This thrilling sequel to Traveler doles out adventure and heartbreak in equal measure as it takes readers through a kaleidoscope of intricately crafted worlds of wonder, discovery, and danger.
You’re still you no matter where you go.
Jessa has learned the hard way that traveling to alternate dimensions isn’t all delicious, glittering desserts and fancy parties: it also means accidentally running into people she thought she’d never see again. Still mourning a devastating loss, Jessa isn’t really prepared for the arrival of a reckless version of someone she once loved who is now bent on revenge. Add an increasingly complicated relationship with her best friend Ben, the reappearance of an old enemy, and the threat of the multiverse collapsing, and Jessa’s got a lot on her plate. She may be destined to help save an infinite multitude of worlds… but in the end, all Jessa really wants to do is save her friends.
In Dreamer, the young adult fantasy follow up to Traveler, author L. E. DeLano delivers a gripping, emotional story that will leave readers on the edge of their seat.

Dreamer, by author L.E. Delano, is the final installment in the author's Traveler duology. Dreamer picks up 6 weeks after the ending of Traveler. This is a series where 17-year old Jessa St. Clair is the protagonist. When we first met Jessa, she was a writer who wanted to go to college to become a journalist, and then travel for a living. Then she met a mysterious boy who rocked her world by telling her she was different than others. Jessa, you see, has the ability to travel to various multiverses via any clear item like a mirror, a glass, water, as long as she can see her reflection she can travel.

When she arrives there, she is still herself despite taking over the body of the Jessa of that multiverse. Jessa has met some really interesting Jessa's, including one who is deaf, over the course of this series. She's met some she's asked for help from time to time. For the past 6 weeks, Jessa has been out of sorts while shifting into other realities, making connections, and living the lives of her other selves while being out of sorts by the lost of her partner Finn.

Jessa must be careful in her travels. One correction can reset the course of dozens, maybe hundreds of lives. Jessa and Finn are in many of these worlds together which makes things very pensive should she run across a Finn from another world. On top of trying to move forward, the villains, Rudy and Ms Eversor, are still free, still making trouble, still painting targets on Jessa's from other multiverses, and still attempting to go forward with an idea that will end up with billions of lives lost if they succeed.

Then, the unexpected happens. While traveling through a world where she has a step-sister named Olivia, she sees someone she thought was dead. This person isn't hers, but she knows him very well. Let's call him Captain Finn Gallagher, and he too has now lost someone he loved. Finn and Jessa spend a whole lot of time bickering and belaboring the point that the villains should be their primary focus, not their issues with the other.

I'm not going to dive into the things I had issues with. So, let's dive into those that I loved. Let's start with Jessa's brother Danny. I loved that Danny is in every single one of the alternative realities that she travels to. Sometimes he's normal, sometimes not so much. Sometimes he offers a comment that is very relevant to the situation that Jessa is dealing with. How you ask? No clue. Oh, did I mention that Danny has autism? Did I mention that he is absolutely adorable?

Then there is Mario. Mario is a Dreamer who keeps an eye out on all realities and possibilities and ask travelers, like Jessa, to step in when something is amiss. Dreamers spend most of their times in Dreamscapes where they can observe all the people who shape them. Mario is a cool cat who does make mistakes, and does put up with a whole lot from Jessa, but he is expecting Jessa to save the universe. No pressure!

Ben. Oh, Ben. Ben Hastings is Jessa's best friend who ends up getting caught up in things he would have been better walking away from. Ben becomes a love interest in this novel which is a twisted way of saying, yes, there is a bit of a love triangle going on here. For me, Ben is much more suitable for Jessa friend in her reality, and step-sister in another, Olivia. Let's let sleeping dogs lie. Let's not make something even harder than it's supposed to, shall we?

I suppose now I have to deal with Finn Gallagher, only this Finn isn't the original Finn. I will say that I liked this version of Finn, even though he is in full revenge mode. This Finn is labeled as a pirate who has his own solar schooner named the Traveling Lady. The thing you should know the most is that in nearly every single multiverse, Finn and Jessa are together. In some it's Jessa and Ben, but it is Finn and Jessa who are the destined couple even though this Finn isn't the original Finn, and this Finn lost his version of Jessa. Got it? Good.

Recommendation: Read the book, stay for the short story at the end.
