A Cursed Embrace Synopsis:
Celia Wird and her three sisters are just like other twentysomething girls—with one tiny exception: They are the products of a curse that backfired and gave each of them unique powers that made them, well, a little weird.…
After Celia Wird and her sisters help master vampire Misha save his family, their powers are exposed to the supernatural community of the Lake Tahoe region. But fame comes at a price, and being “weird” isn’t always welcome.
To make matters worse, Celia desires the love of Alpha werewolf Aric, but his pack is bent on destroying their relationship to preserve his pureblood status. And once weres start turning up dead—with evidence pointing to the vampires—she must face the prospect of losing Aric forever. But the chaos only masks a new threat. An evil known as the Tribe has risen—and their sights are set on Celia and her sisters.
My Review:
“A Cursed Embrace” is an emotional rollercoaster ride that
starts right from the first page with danger and suspense and continues right until
the end of the book. The story itself took me to the highest high with a
romance that I truly enjoyed, the lowest low where new villains appear and want
the Wird sisters very badly and you are left wondering who is going to survive;
to an ending that left me gasping for air and anxiously awaiting Cursed by
Destiny (January 2014) to be released so that I can find out what happens next.
If you’ve read Sealed with a Curse, you are aware of the
Wird Sisters and their unique abilities and the fact that they’re all practicing
RN’s when not fighting for their loves or being with their lovers. You are
aware that they worked together in order to save Master Vampire Misha from
destruction and now he owes them big time. If you haven’t read the book yet,
HOP TO IT NOW!
Let me offer an introduction or a reminder.
Celia Wird is the oldest sister, and a tigress shifter who
has vowed to protect her sisters at all costs. She has the ability to shift
from one place to another and can bury a person underground. She’s a serious
badass who can more than hold her own against all those who want to harm her
sisters. She’s currently being courted and fought over by two alpha males namely
Aric (werewolf), and Misha (vampire) who absolutely hate each other and it’s
revealed as to why in this book.
Taran is probably the most entertaining sister in my humble
opinion and I can’t wait until Cecy releases her story. She has the ability to
generate and manipulate fire and use it as a weapon. She’s the Fashionista of
the sisters and is as feisty and mouthy as they come. She’s currently in a relationship
with a warrior werewolf named Gemini who is Aric’s Beta and pretty awesome in
his own right.
Shayna has the ability to manipulate metal into weapons
especially knives. She loves to use the word DUDE a lot which is adorable. As
the story begins, she’s in a relationship with Koda, another warrior wolf who
loves her dearly. You should definitely stay around for the ending! (No
spoilers!)
Emme is the youngest sister. She’s a telekinetic with the
ability to heal. Emme is also in a relationship with a warrior werewolf named
Liam.
A definite positive for me is that “A Cursed Embrace” does NOT
suffer from sophomoric let downs or jinxes. I would say that it may succeed or
rival “Sealed With A Curse” in likability and new villains that are just plain
evil in nature and dangerous to the Wird sisters in general. The action is intense,
the fight scenes are well thought out, the romance is extremely hot and heavy,
and the ending left me gasping for air and a little depressed that I have to
wait until January to find out happens with Celia and her sisters.
For those who have been waiting for some romance between
Aric and Celia, you definitely get your wish. Even though Aric is an asshat at
times because of the fact that he’s being pressured by his Elders to let Celia
go, I really loved the connection he has with her and can deal with a little
emotional turmoil. I am definitely not a fan of 3-way love triangles in any
form so Misha’s appearance threw me into a fit of annoyance. Misha, though,
clearly owes Celia for saving his life and so I don’t think he will be going
away anytime soon.
The Weird Girls series is heavy on secondary characters like
Bren and Danny who have been friends with the sisters and really part of their
extended family in a way. The Sisters boyfriends are all awesome and seriously
protective to the point of putting themselves on the line to make sure nothing
bad happens to them.
I will offer up this last commentary about the Weird Sisters
series; Cecy Robson knows how to write. She lets you get close to her
characters in such a way that you can honestly say you wish you were friends
with them. Yes, she puts them through the ringer at times, but she never leaves
you believing that there’s nothing the sisters can’t do in order to survive if they
stick together.
Cecy (pronounced Sessy) Robson is an author with Penguin's
SIGNET ECLIPSE. She attributes her passion for story-telling back to the rough
New Jersey neighborhood she was raised in. As a child, she was rarely allowed to
leave the safety of her house and passed her time fantasizing about flying,
fairies, and things that go bump in the night. Gifted and cursed with an
overactive imagination, she began writing her Urban Fantasy Romance Series,
Weird Girls, in May 2009. THE WEIRD GIRLS: A Novella and SEALED WITH A CURSE are
now available. A CURSED EMBRACE, releases July 2, 2013 followed by A CURSED
MOON: An eSpecial Novella December 2013, and CURSED BY DESTINY, January
2014.

I'm not a fan of three ways either but I think the three way is in Mischa's head! At least in the last book it was, I hope that hasn't changed and Celia is gonna fight for Arik and him for her! Can't wait to read this book though I'm anticipating a lot of tears if the elders are gonna be trying to split them!
ReplyDeleteHey, Suzi! Misha is very much attracted to power which is why he initially is attracted to Celia. And Aric? Well, he sees Celia in a totally different way. I hope you'll enjoy A CURSED EMBRACE just as much if not more. ;D
