Hi, everyone, and welcome to the BITING BAD Blog Tour! From July 29, 2013 to August 9, 2013 (click here for full schedule), I’m visiting blogs to give Merit an opportunity to rate the men of the Chicagoland Vampires series–are they “Book Boyfriend” material?

She’s had an opportunity to review many of the CV men, from shifters to sorcerers, and vampires to fallen angels.  Here’s the final tally:

Best Book Boyfriend: Ethan Sullivan, the head of Chicago’s Cadogan House.

Worst Book Boyfriend: Simon, sorcerer and crappiest tutor ever.

Mr. Congeniality: Jeff Christopher

Honorable Mentions: The other members of the Keene family: Derek, Christopher, Ben and Eli.

Didn’t even make the list: Dominic. Because evil.
Which of the Chicagoland Vampires character is your favorite book boyfriend?

Merit has been a vampire for only a short while, but she’s already seen a lifetime’s worth of trouble. She and her Master, centuries-old Ethan Sullivan, have risked their lives time and again to save the city they love. But not all of Chicago is loving them back.

Anti-vampire riots are erupting all over town, striking vampires where it hurts the most. A splinter group armed with Molotov cocktails and deep-seated hate is intent on clearing the fanged from the Windy City come hell or high water.

Merit and her allies rush to figure out who’s behind the attacks, who will be targeted next, and whether there’s any way to stop the wanton destruction. The battle for Chicago is just beginning, and Merit is running out of time.

*Genre* Urban Fantasy

*My Thoughts*

"We made it to the front door before trouble found us again." Merit

Trouble has a way of finding its way into Merit's life ever since she became an unwilling vampire 10 months ago, and the Sentinel of Cadogan House led by Ethan "Darth" Sullivan. What's interesting about Biting Bad is that yes we do have some danger straight ahead for the vampires of Cadagon, but we also have the fact that Ethan and Merit have been a couple and living peacefully together for the past 2 months. There's no drama or extraneous jealously between the couple even with Merit being a part of the Red Guard with Jonah as her partner.

You are asking yourself, yes, but so what? So what is the fact that the romance is much more interesting this time around. Merit is no longer lashing out at Ethan for changing her into a vampire or blaming him for the fact that she lost her humanity. There isn't the constant threat that they will get into yet another heated argument that only leads to pain and suffering for everyone involved including the house vampires. It is much more interesting to have a united couple fighting together against the forces in Chicago that are trying to run them out of the city.

Biting Bad isn't all about the romance between Ethan and Merit. There are underlying currents flowing through the City of Chicago that has people protesting, and rioting, and attacking vampires without provocation. If you are a fan of this series, and have read every book, you know that John McKetrick is a thorn in the side of Merit and Ethan's. You know that he isn't exactly timid when it comes to his absolute hatred of the supernatural community, and it won't surprise you to see what lengths he goes through in order to get his way.

Biting Bad shows some remarkable improvement when it comes to Merit and Mallory Carmichael's relationship that took a severe hit after Mallory's experience with the dark side. I think this is a pro because Merit needs her friends around her especially with an Anti supernatural mayor and the GP still not leaving the Cadogan House alone. I also hope that Mallory and Catcher can finally move towards a similar situation that Ethan and Merit have.

In my humble opinion, Biting Bad is one of the better books in the Chicagoland Vampires series. It takes you on a ride of discovery, mystery, challenges, and fight scenes that I absolutely loved. I can't wait until Wild Things releases in February 2014.

Expected publication: August 6th 2013 by NAL Penguin - ARC received from NAL Penguin in lieu of my tour stop for Biting Bad.

About The Author
She was born and raised in the South, but now makes her home in the Midwest–just close enough to Cadogan House and St. Sophia’s to keep an eye on things. When not transcribing Merit’s and Lily’s adventures, she bakes, works, and scours the Internet for good recipes and great graphic design. Chloe also maintains her sanity by spending time with her boys–her favorite landscape photographer/husband and their dogs, Baxter and Scout. (Both she and the photographer understand the dogs are in charge.)

  2. Drink Deep was my favorite. It's when Merit really grew into the woman I knew she could be. No matter what happened she proved she was strong willed and kick a** even by herself.
