Welcome to Armchair BEA 2014!
This is my THIRD year participating!
I can't wait to see how much fun we will have this year!
Today, is introduction day. I've chosen (5) questions that best introduce me and my blog Gizmos Reviews!
1. Please tell us a little bit about yourself:
Who are you? ::waves:: Hello! My name is Shelley!
How long have you been blogging? June 21, will be 3 years of full time blogging.
Why did you get into blogging? I've been a member of Goodreads since 2009 where I posted a few thousand reviews before I decided to create Gizmos Reviews.
Where in the world are you blogging from? I am from Jacksonville, Florida, the land that no author dares to trend for fear of being left behind.
2. Describe your blog in just one sentence. Then, list your social details -- Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc. -- so we can connect more online.
Gizmos Reviews is a fairly small, one person blog, that hangs in the background of the big boys and girls, taking it all in, while trying NOT to put my foot in my mouth too many times.
Twitter - @GizmosReviews
Facebook - I don't currently have a facebook page for my blog
Instagram - I don't current have a page for my blog
3. What genre do you read the most?
I love to read ALL sorts of genre's. Urban Fantasy, PNR, Steampunk, Historical Fantasy, Dystopian, Young Adult, Mystery, & Thrillers. I can't really say I have a favorite, or that I read more or one genre than another. I've gone from reading Steampunk one day, to Noir Fantasy another.
4. What book would you love to see as a movie?
::rubs hands together:: where do I start? Hmm, let's start with Scan by Sarah Fine and Walter Jury. The Taking by Kimberly Derting. Ashfall by Mike Mullin. Blood of Eden trilogy by Julie Kagawa. Partials Sequence by Dan Wells. Sekret by Lindsay Smith just to name a few.
5. What was your favorite book read last year? (2013)
What’s your favorite book so far this year? (2014)
For 2013, I would start with Written in Red by Anne Bishop, The Spider by Jennifer Estep, These Broken Stars by Amie Kaufman/Meagan Spooner, Descendant by Lesley Livingston, Deception by C.J. Redwine, Cold Blooded by Amanda Carlson, The Dream Thieves by Maggie Stiefvater just to name a few.
For this year, I would start with Torn Away by Jennifer Brown, Banishing the Dark by Jenn Bennett, Against the Dawn by Amanda Bonilla, House of the Rising Sun by Kristen Painter, Scan by Sarah Fine/Walter Jury, Prisoner of Night and Fog by Anne Blankman.
I could totally see the Blood of Eden series made into a movie, though I still need to read the last one. < hangs head in shame >
ReplyDeleteLisa @Just Another Rabid Reader
It's all good Lisa. I'm surprised I've read the entire series considering how utterly behind I am on my reading lists!
Delete... You have seen my TBR on Goodreads right? The NG list? It's heartbreaking!
DeleteI am with you - I really LOVED Written in Red. Have you finished Murder of Crows yet? In some ways I think I liked it even more!
ReplyDeleteI keep meaning to read Sekret - I bought it almost as soon as it was released based on some reviews from people I trust, but it seems like books I actually own get pushed to the bottom of the TBR, following library books and any review books I might have. Someday soon!
Murder of Crows was just as awesome as the original. Definitely can't wait for the third installment!
DeleteI could totally see Blood of Eden as a movie or a TV Series. Great answers Shelley.
ReplyDeleteGrace
Thank you Grace! Enjoy the real BEA!
DeleteBlood of Eden & Partials series would make great movies! Action-packed and great characters, I totally see that on the screen :D
ReplyDeleteMel@thedailyprophecy - Introduction
Eggggxactly! I don't see why we have to deal with the same ole same ole movie retreats when there are literally MILLIONS of books that could be used as possible movie material
DeleteWaving back, Shelley! Reading your list of genre's reminds me I want to read more steampunk fiction AND must go look up Written in Red!
ReplyDeleteHiya Deb! Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteCongratulations on 3 years of blogging. That is a really big accomplishment It's always hard to imagine where it will go when you're just starting out!
ReplyDeleteThanks Nicole! It's been a fun journey. Hopefully it will last a few more years!
DeleteHi Shelley! Ooh I have a lot of in-laws in the Jacksonville area. Too bad no authors want to go there. It is a big enough place seriously!
ReplyDeleteHi Julie! Yeah, Jacksonville is really the armpit of North Florida. Even though we have tons of places for events, organizers just plain ignore us for St. Augustine, Orlando, or Daytona.
DeleteBlood of Eden would make a great TV series - I would love to see it. Nice intro post, Shelley.
ReplyDeleteAH@badassbookreviews
Thanks my friend!
DeleteHi Shelley, nice to meet you! I've been meaning to read Prisoner of Night and Fog by Anne Blankman. Glad to hear you enjoyed it!
ReplyDeleteSame here Jordin!
DeleteStopping by from #ArmchairBEA! I gave you some ♥ on bloglovin'.
ReplyDeleteThank YOU Amber!
DeleteYay for Julie Kagawa! I love her books!
ReplyDeleteNice meeting you. I'm a new follower.
