*Gizmos Book Reviews* Resistance (Night School #4) by C.J. Daugherty

**I received this book for free from Bookouture in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.**

*My Thoughts*

Resistance picks up THREE months after the ending of Fracture so obviously, if you haven't read the previous installments, DO NOT JUMP AHEAD! Allie is in a quandary. She's fighting to stay one step ahead of Nathaniel, she's fighting to save her friends, and she's fighting to remain a normal teenager at an unusual school called Cimmeria Academy. As the book opens, Allie & Rachel have been shuffled off for their protection, but there is no where in the world that anyone can truly hide from bloody Nathaniel and his minions which we quickly gleam with a marvelous chase scene, and an ending that is truly wild.

Resistance has some major earth shattering moments that the previous installments have hinted at. I can honestly say without fear of reprisal, that I actually got the identity of the spy correctly, and I wasn't surprised behind the why. I will not spoil who this person is, or why this person does it, but I will say that if you truly pay attention while reading this series, CJ pretty much GIVES you this person on a golden platter.

I will warn readers that CJ loves toying with your emotions. Mine are all over the place after reading THAT ending, and having several heart stopping moments happen over the course of the book that I love to call game changers. I feel as though I've just been run over by a freight train named CJ, and need some major TLC in order to survive to read the next book in my que.

Allie has grown on me these past three books, and has really thawed the ice from my cold heart. Even though she makes some interesting choices along the way, it's because she genuinely cares about the group of friends (Sylvain, Carter, Rachel, Nicole, and Zoe) who have become her own little family now that her own parents are utterly useless, and her brother is having a crisis all his own. I liked the addition of Dom, the American computer wizard who joins the group against Nathaniel. I even liked Allie's new found connection to Katie, the former bad girl who treated Allie with resentment.

If you've been paying attention to my reviews and reading progress over the past few days, you now know that I have now successfully completed reading Legacy, Fracture, and now Resistance (the second, third, and fourth books in the Night School series). I can honestly say that all three books have left an indelible impression on me, and I am eager to finish this series now, and find out how CJ will wrap up the series, and whether or not Allie gets her much desired revenge and HEA.
