*Gizmos Early Book Reviews* Universal Alien (Katherine "Kitty" Katt #10) by Gini Koch

**I received this book for free from DAW/Author in exchange for an honest review. Thank you!! This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.**

*Synopsis*

Issues with Australia need to be straightened out, so the White House sends the Vice President and his wife, aka Jeff and Kitty Katt-Martini, over to handle the situation. But before Kitty can make things worse, she’s suddenly in another world -- one where she’s been married to Charles Reynolds for years and aliens don’t exist.

Kitty’s not the only one confused, because the Kitty from that world has taken her place in this one. Can they both save their respective days before it’s too late to go home to the universes they belong to, or will one Kitty decide to keep the other’s life… forever?

*My Thoughts*

Universal Alien (Katherine "Kitty" Katt #10) really does take Kitty to places she's never been before. After inadvertently setting back the US's relationship with Australia over a silly accident, Kitty finds herself in an alternative multiverse where things are upside down and dangers once again raise their ugly heads.

In this reality, Kitty has been married to her best friend Charles Reynolds for years and aliens like (Jeff) haven't made their presence felt yet. Kitty, aka Wolverine with Boobs, has to find a way to protect Charles's family, uncover the conspiracy behind the Masterminds plots, while putting together a coalition of the willing, and finding a way back to her own reality and her husband Jeff Martini and daughter Jamie-Katt.

But, Kitty isn't alone in finding her world turned upside down. Cosmic Alternate (CA) Kitty ends up switching places with her counterpart in what is definitely Operation Body Swap. CA Kitty could not be more different. She has no idea that aliens exist, finds herself deep in a strange land with strange people who are deeply involved in saving their race and the human race from the dastardly and determined Mastermind. She's married to a sexy alien, and has to somehow manage to make thing right with Australia before it sends the Alpha Centurians searching for a new home. Neither Kitty can go home until their respective missions are finished. But, will they find their way home, or will they be forever stuck in their current realities?

Over the 5 years that this series has covered, Kitty has gone through a remarkable transformation that has taken her from being a mild mannered marketing assistant, to killing Aliens with hair spray, to the head of Airborne Division, before becoming the Ambassador for the American Centurians in D.C. and being mother to 3 year old Jamie Katt who keeps getting more powerful and interesting as the series progresses. As a reader of this series, it might be a good idea not to close your eyes when Jamie is around.

Universal Alien really does make you question whether or not Koch actually reveals the Identity of the Mastermind who continues to make trouble for Kitty and her friends and family even in alternative multiverse's. One can hope that this persons identity won't remain a secret for much longer. I think we definitely have the begins of the end of this persons reign as Mastermind. One can only hope that Kitty doesn't lose anyone important in the meantime.

It's no secret that I love the series, and wish more people would pick it up and start reading. I think Kitty is a remarkable heroine with the ability to laugh at herself for making some silly blunders. Although she calls herself Wolverine with Boobs, she's definitely more like Wonder Woman with her ability to use powers like hyper-speed, fast healing, and super strength to save the day.

In the end, it is Kitty who finds ways to defeat the bad guys while saving a slew of characters that she considers family and friends. I love the relationship aspect of this series. Kitty and Jeff's romance hasn't worn out even after 10 books. I love the various Poofs and Peregrine's and allies that Kitty has put together to defeat the forces of darkness.

  1. My favorite Kittism? Geeze Louise. I'm lucky I can remember the name of my favorite grandchild (Sarah). I'd love to win though so I can add another Kitty to my growing collection.
