*Gizmos Review & Giveaway - Eternal (Shadow Falls: After Dark #2) by C.C. Hunter *

**I received this book for free from  St. Martin's Griffin in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.**

*Synopsis*

All her life, Della's secret powers have made her feel separated from her human family. Now, she's where she belongs, at Shadow Falls. With the help of her best friends Kylie and Miranda, she’ll try to prove herself in the paranormal world as an investigator—all the while trying to figure out her own heart. Should she chose Chase, a powerful vampire with whom she shares a special bond? Or Steve, the hot shapeshifter whose kisses make her weak in the knees? When a person with dark connection to her past shows up, it’ll help her decide which guy to choose–and make her question everything she knows about herself.

*My Thoughts*

Eternal is the middle novel in the Shadow Falls: After Dark Trilogy. The story picks up pretty much where its predecessor (Reborn) left off. Della Tsang has changed after undergoing a second transition to vampire. She is now one of the Reborn with more speed, and strength than she has had time to explore. Della is also bound to vampire Chase Tallman which leaves her with more questions than answers.

If you want to learn more about Chase, I suggest reading Unbreakable and Reborn. Chase and I haven't exactly gotten along since he was introduced but I am sure that many will find the arrogant ass likable. I will absolutely admit to you that he gives me the heebie jeebies because he is definitely hiding more than he is telling Della. If the ending to Eternal is any indication, we are in for one helluva ride in the finale.

Eternal finds Della up to her ears with a ghost who wants her help, while struggling with her bodies response to Chase, and Steve's stunning decision that breaks readers hearts. Because of the ghosts desires, Della, along with Chase, chases down two missing vampires and attempts to locate them before they run out of time. It is during this time that Della must seek her hearts true desire and not just linger onto a happy memory. Will she pick Chase, Steve, or someone else?

Readers have known that Della wants to become an agent of the FRU, but her life isn't all that simple with mysteries surrounding her own family, and now the Vampire Council's desire for her to work for them instead. Her family has so many secrets, that if any of them come out into the open, it might destroy everyone involved. There are secrets that continue to slowly rise to the surface and with the final novel called Unspoken, it is only a matter of time before Della learns the truth she's been carrying around like baggage.

I will say that Della is by far my favorite character of this series even though she does have a tendency of getting my blood pressure up. Della has experienced heartache and pain since she was first introduced in Turned at Dark (Shadow Falls, #0.5). While Kylie was a curious sort who didn't understand what she truly was, Della has known that she is a vampire, and vampires are perhaps a bit stronger, and more determined than others.

I do hope that Miranda gets a novel of her own. She's always been the one character who is left behind while Kylie and Della are off on their adventures. I do like the fact that the three girls are closer than sisters at this point, and support each other without complaint. I find it humorous that Hunter also gave Miranda a broken heart along with Della. One hopes everything works out for everyone involved.

  2. My favorite character would have to be Della because she's really badass and independent and funny and she really takes care of her friends. She's also really loyal and would never betray you :-)
