The sequel to the sci-fi hit Forget Tomorrow is a twisting, turning roller-coaster ride—the perfect sci-fi futuristic read.
Seventeen-year-old Jessa Stone is the most valuable citizen in Eden City. Her psychic abilities could lead to significant scientific discoveries -- if only she'd let TechRA study her. But after they kidnapped and experimented on her as a child, cooperating with the scientists is the last thing Jessa would do.
But when she discovers the past isn't what she assumed, Jessa must join forces with budding scientist Tanner Callahan to rectify a fatal mistake made ten years ago. She'll do anything to change her past -- even if it means aligning herself with the enemy she swore to defeat.
Remember Yesterday is the
second installment in author Pintip Dunn's Forget Tomorrow series. Remember Yesterday
takes place TEN years after the ending of Forget Tomorrow. After the stunning
ending to Forget Tomorrow, I was left with loads of questions, but no answers.
Then I received a copy of Remember Yesterday and found out that this book was
going to be narrated by an entirely different character in Jessa Stone, the
twin/younger sister of Callie Stone.
Jessa is now the same age as
Callie was when she made the choice to save her sister from being experimented
on and changed the future. The choices that Callie made to change her own future as well as saving her sister, is still felt in this current world. Jessa feels as though she
has to step up and fill the void left by a sister that everyone loved,
especially Logan who has been left distraught and detached. Perceived or not,
Jessa's belief that she wasn't loved the same way as Callie, has guided her to
do some dangerous things.
While Jessa is trying to live
up to the sacrifices that Callie made, she's also being a bit of a daredevil by
breaking into different labs with her friend Ryder, and also participating in
extreme sports like Skydiving. What hasn't changed is the determination of
Chairwoman Dresden to have Jessa by her side as she seeks out ways to bring
back Future Memory. What does change is that Jessa is now fighting alongside a
scientist who believed he was the hope for everyone's future.
Tanner Callahan has his own
story to tell that may be even more shocking than Jessa's. There are two sides
to every story and everyone's story is not necessarily a happy one. As Jessa
has to weave her way through making even more difficult choices than even
Callie made, she will need someone to make sure she doesn't fall deep into the
darkness that awaits her. While Jessa and Tanner become unlikely allies and
friends, there are still secrets between the two that need to be handled before
things get even messier.
But, nothing is ever easy in
a world where there are infinite number of alternative worlds and where there
are also fixed points or moments in your life that you can't change. Jessa's
struggles are real. Tanner's struggles are real. What's different about this
story than the first is the time travel aspect that sends Jessa and Tanner back
Ten years to when Callie made her choice. What's also different is that there
are a few more secrets, a surprise I never saw coming, and once more we are
left with a shocking ending that will grate on readers nerves until the next
book arrives.
FYI - There is a novella that
is being released later this month (October 31) called Before Tomorrow. Before
Tomorrow is from the perspective of Logan Russel, Callie's romantic interest in
Forget Tomorrow.
PS - I actually read this book during Hurricane Matthew while the power was out. Thank you to my stash of candles and a well stocked supply of batteries for my flashlights!
