A year ago I had woken up with no memory of who I was. No one seemed to know anything about me and for months the police investigated only to find nothing. The only thing I had was a necklace with the name Angela Starr.

The government gave me an ID with that name and let me enroll in a community college to get my GED. All the psychologists that they had examine me thought that would be best and going to school might jog some memories since they figured I was in my late teens. Well, it did, as I ran into a boy my age that I felt I knew, but before I could fully recover those memories, we found ourselves being chased into a portal that led to the other side of the universe.

But why did this other planet seem so familiar?

A Falling Star, by author Dani Hoots, is three short episodes (Forgotten, Found, Free) compiled into one story. One year ago, Angela Starr woke up in a Portland hosptial with no memory of who she was or where she came from. Since then, she's been searching for any trace of herself, only to find nothing. Wanting to move on with her life, she decides to enroll into college only to run into someone, Emmerich, she feels familiar with. Did she know him before the accident? Does he have the answers she's been desperately searching for? With strange men following her and a man who seems to know more than he is letting on, Angela Starr may finally find what she has been looking for.

Found picks up the story from Forgotten. Angela finds herself in a whole new world called Cartref with flying cars, strange people, colonies on the moons, and it all feels familiar. With her memories slowly coming back, albeit with massive headaches, will she finally be given the answer as to who she is and where she is from and what really happened to her? Or, will she find out the truth after it is too late? Angela is reunited with a boy, Elwood, who claims to be her cousin. She also learns that she was an advocator for peace with a group of mermaids called Galaftns.

Free finds Angela with her memories back, especially when it comes to Michael, the man who took everything away from her, and tried to make sure she never knew what he was up to. Angela, Elwood, and Emmerich work together in order to repair an alliance that Angela once put together with the Galaftns who were told that she was dead, and not on an unknown planet known as Earth. This is Angela being reintroduced to a world that was created by her descendants who she wants nothing to do with. This is Angela finding a bit of happiness even though the whole thing felt rushed.

Of all three parts of this story, Forgotten was the most interesting. Subsequent parts were rushed and not sussed out enough to fully enjoy the story. Oh, no worries, I liked Angela, and Emmerich, I just wish there was a bit more story. More background. More...everything!
