The truth will ruin his empire.

A lie will destroy her.

Thief by night and witch by birthright, candle maker Alaska McCullough has perfected the art of stealing by using magic. Until she takes something she never should’ve touched.

The object should not have existed, yet it’s putting her life and reputation on the line. Now she lives on borrowed time…unless she can find a way to give it back before it’s too late.

When the owner of the enterprise she stole from discovers the theft and tries to set her up for owning illegal magical objects, Alaska must go on the run for destroying his legacy…or tell a lie that will destroy her, and everything she holds dear.

Stolen Magic is the first installment in author Maya Daniels Honor Among Thieves series. Alaska McCullough works at the Crystal Palace by day along with her best friend Charmaine Mariatti who claims to be a sorceress. By night, she's known as the White Kalla thief who is all but a ghost. Nobody has yet to catch her trail. She was born a witch, but in this world, that is a dangerous proposition. A group known as Order of Magical Powers, has all but eliminated witches in this world.

When Alaska steals a book from Dimitri Bell and seemingly escapes being caught, she sets off a series of events that there's no walking away. To make matters worse, vampires attack Alaska and her best friend, and then Dimitri Bell shows up at her door and demands that he tell her the name of the buyer and return the book, or a new witch hunt will take place. Damian is a Druid who is not supposed to exist, but has made connections with Charmaine.

In this world, if you are a shifter, or a vampire, or a mage, you are perfectly fine under the MPO's jurisdiction. When Alaska and Dimitri are attacked by Elementals, she does something that nobody has ever done before making Dimitri stand up and take notice. The two are forced to work together to find out why someone hired Alaska to steal a book that could reveal everything about Dimitri. And, just when you thought you figure it out, CLIFFHANGER!!!

Alaska is a character that puzzled me at times. She’s shy but has a temper. She tries to hide how powerful she really is but Dimitri tends to throw her for a loop. She admits she doesn’t know much about the business side of her store leaving that to Charmaine, but is obviously a person who likes to be in control. It is fair to say that I borrowed this via Kindle Unlimited because if was free, and because of the cover, and not because I knew anything about the author. Are there issues with the story? Yes, but at this point in my life, I am not going to lose my mind over minor errors.
