Lorelei plans to find the girl quickly

secrets, but you know what they say about the best laid plans. Lorelei also has two ghosts who refuse to cross over. They may be irritating at times, but they know the history of Fairhaven. Lorelei soon uncovers that Fairhaven is a literal Supernatural epicenter. That is why she is curious if someone put a whammy on her to send her to Fairhaven which doesn't have anyone looking at the multiple gateways. Especially when characters like Matilda of the Night show up.
*Thoughts* I ended up rating this as a pretty good overall story even though there was no background to Lorelei and her abilities or the fact that she seems destined to confront the deadly demon, Kane Sullivan who owns the Devil's Playground and runs an assassin guild. I kind of like the old vampire Otto Visconti who requests Lorelei spend some time with him while he teaches her what's really happening in Fairhaven.
The most curious part is almost all of the supernaturals that Lorelei encounters, know that she is not truly human. That there is something more to her than meets the eyes outside of her ability to speak to ghosts, and help them cross over. In closing, I have never read this author before, but I have heard that she tends to write lots of books. I will, of course, continue with this series to find out Lorelei's secret, and whether she can avoid Kane's lure.
