*Thoughts* I am new to this authors writings but understand that certain characters in this book have shown up in the previous series. Those like Connor and Ruby who is also one of the touched, and is a shifter. One of my pet peeves, is when the male main character does something stupid without telling the female main character. This choice ends up with both character bonded, leaving the female character fighting for her write to not only privacy, but against those who think she is the greatest thing they have ever seen. He then gives Amber a year to train and learn before she makes her choices. Of course, you also have the dangerous Shadow Lord who wants her soul and magic she contains, and several instances of betrayal that certain secondary characters must have seen coming, yet refused to say so before crap hits the fan. I do know that the author tends to write 3-5 books before wrapping up the series, so we are in for a rather long haul.
