#Review - Dead End by Annabel Chase #Fantasy

Series:
 Crossroads Queen # 9
Format: Kindle,
290 pages
Release Date: April 17, 2025
Publisher: Red Palm Press LLC

Genre: Urban Fantasy

Queen of the Crossroads Lorelei Clay has the fight of her life ahead of her in this final, must-read installment of the bestselling urban fantasy series.

Lorelei never believed she would have a place to call home. She’d grown accustomed to hiding, to putting up walls and avoiding interaction with the world around her.

Until Fairhaven.

Lorelei has grown to love the small town with its multirealm crossroads and the residents who welcomed her with open arms, as well as those who were slow to warm up. She’s fallen in love with a demon prince, and befriended ghosts, a cursed vampire, the werewolf pack, and the Assassins Guild. She’s overcome her grudge against witches, and brought the local police into the fold. Now those residents are under threat, and Lorelei is the only one who can save them.

But first she has to save herself.

The stakes have never been higher. If she fails, she’ll have played a pivotal role in destroying the very place she swore to protect.

Good thing Lorelei is no stranger to sacrifice. Whatever the price, she’s ready and willing to pay it.

Dead End, by Annabel Chase, is the Ninth and final chapter in the author's Crossroads Queen series. This urban fantasy saga has captivated readers with its supernatural intrigue and fiercely compelling protagonist, Lorelei Clay. The narrative picks up where Half Dead (Book 8) left off, with higher stakes than ever. Lorelei confronts formidable foes in a climactic showdown that tests her strength, resolve, and the bonds she’s forged throughout the series.

After losing a challenge to Lucifer to keep Kane from being tortured and held as a prisoner, Lorelei must find allies to escape Paradise and the Corporation and get back to Fairhaven, which is now controlled by Lucifer and his demons. The Corporation is even more destructive and dangerous than thought of and is moving into a new avatar creation project using supernaturals like those Lorelei has become friends with, and maybe even family found. Thankfully, there are those who don't like the path the Corporation is taking.

Meanwhile, the fate of Kane Sullivan hangs in the balance, as does everyone else who has become part of Lorelei's circle of friends and supernatural allies who have chosen to stand with her against those who would try to harm Fairhaven and those who live there. Lorelei Clay remains a standout protagonist—complex, relatable, and fiercely independent. Her journey from a reclusive supernatural figure to a leader who embraces her community is fully realized in Dead End.

If you have read this series from the beginning, congratulations! If you haven't, I suggest you do before jumping into this book. Every supernatural and human character, like Chief Garcia, who has been introduced throughout this series, appears in this book, including Hestia and the Furies, who have tried to get Lorelei to pick up her station as Queen of the Underworld. Even though this book is short, a whole lot happens, including one truly emotional scene featuring Nana Pratt, Ray, and Lorelei. There are scenes in Paradise and scenes in the Underworld, and readers are finally told what really happened to Hades and Persephone, which should satisfy those like me who were hoping for a satisfactory conclusion to the story. This urban fantasy has an original story, action, adventure, a slow-burning romance, funny moments, and many surprises.

#Review - Half Dead by Annabel Chase #Urban #Fantasy

Series:
 Crossroads Queen # 8
Format: Kindle, 288 pages
Release Date: January 2, 2025
Publisher: Red Palm Press LLC
Source: Kindle Unlimited
Genre: Urban Fantasy

Lorelei Clay wants to play offense for a change. She’s tired of hiding from the past she didn’t even know she had. With a promising relationship and new friends in a small town she loves, Lorelei wants to be free to live life on her terms, without the threat of death or capture hanging over her.

Kane Sullivan hasn’t exactly been hiding from his past—more like he moved without a forwarding address. Unfortunately for him, the boss he tried to overthrow never gave up the search.

And now the former prince of hell has been found.

Kane wants to do whatever it takes to keep his problems from endangering his found family. He knows better than anyone what Lucifer is capable of.

Lorelei is willing to do whatever it takes to protect the demon she loves, but if she can’t convince him to get in the game, they risk losing everything they’ve built together.

When the supreme demon finally makes his move, Lorelei realizes there are some nightmares that even she can’t control.

Annabel Chase's Half Dead is the Eighth installment in the author's Crossroads Queen series. This is the next-to-last installment in this series. The story centers on Lorelei Clay, a complex protagonist with unique powers tied to nightmares and the dead, and Kane Sullivan, a former prince of hell with a past that refuses to stay buried. Before we get to the meat and potatoes of the story, Lorelei takes a trip into enemy territory. That would be The Corporation, which has been hounding Lorelei for months.

The Corporation seems to think that she'll come willingly to work for them, and they think they hold all the cards. Then the unthinkable happens. When a woman named Birdie is found murdered after warning Lorelei of danger, it seems that things are about to get really dangerous in Fairhaven. When Kane’s old boss, Lucifer himself, tracks him down, the couple faces a dire threat to their found family and the life they’ve built. Lorelei’s determination to protect Kane clashes with his resolve to shield others from his problems, creating a tense dynamic that drives the narrative.

The plot thickens with Lucifer’s arrival in Fairhaven, where he offers Lorelei a deal—complete three trials to save Kane from being dragged back to hell. Her relationship with Kane, a slow-burn romance that’s been simmering throughout the series, hits new emotional depths, though some readers might find the pacing of their arc uneven. The supporting cast, from ghostly allies like Ray and Nana Pratt to quirky paranormals like Camryn and Gunther, adds humor and heart, grounding the high-stakes conflict. Fairhaven feels alive, teeming with vampires, demons, and other creatures, all woven seamlessly into the story.

The trials Lorelei faces are gripping, though the final outcome (no spoilers!) left me both stunned and eager for resolution in the next book. It will be interesting to see how the author wraps up this series, and how many of Lorelei's allies survive what's coming for them. Lorelei remains a standout—fierce, sarcastic, and loyal, yet vulnerable as she grapples with nightmares beyond her control.

#Review - Dead Heat by Annabel Chase #Fantasy #Paranormal

Series:
 Crossroads Queen # 7
Format: Kindle, 302 pages
Release Date: September 5, 2024
Publisher: Red Palm Press LLC
Source: Kindle Unlimited
Genre: Urban Fantasy

It isn’t easy being the liminal deity of a multirealm crossroads, as Lorelei Clay can attest. There are the typical issues, of course, like a wayward god stumbling into Wild Acres, and then there are the more pressing ones…

Like an incubus who wakes up with a mysterious mark on his chest and a timer on his life.

And the demon with an urgent message for Kane.

And the mysterious flying monsters with vengeance in their hearts that threaten the peace and tranquility of Fairhaven.

And last, but definitely not least, a visit from The Corporation’s latest minion, who might finally make Lorelei an offer she can’t refuse.

Dead Heat is the Seventh installment in author Annabel Chase's Crossroads Queen series. Lorelei is Melinoe, the reborn goddess of nightmares, ghosts, and terror. She had been hiding her goddess powers until she traveled from London to Fairhaven, where she decided to purchase a worn-down castle in a backwater town in Pennsylvania. This is a literal money pit. Fairhaven just happens to have a magical crossroads that leads to many other realms and dimensions.

After meeting some of the residents of the town, including Demon Prince from Hell Kane Sullivan & Werewolf Alpha Weston Davis, she became the guardian of the gate. She also has the Corporation continually coming after her. The corporation is a group of people putting other God entities into human proxies. The corporation has a warehouse filled with unstoppable weapons, and they are entirely focused now on Lorelei since they now know who she is, and who her parents were.

There is a lot going on with the Corporation still trying to get Lorelei, and now Hestia and the Furies are trying to get her to accept the throne and rule over the underworld in her parent's continued absence. With more supernatural sightings in Fairhaven, including Anubis, the group decides to come clean with Chief Elena Garcia and her deputy and let them on the secrets. On top of all that, Alessandro, an Incubus, is cursed, so Lorelei goes on a journey to Helheim to retrieve the spirit of a lover of the witch who cursed him in order to free him of his curse before he dies.

In the midst of all this, the relationship between Lorelei and Kane deepens. In fact, they go on an honest-to-goodness date, knowing that things are going to change quickly for both Kane and Lorelei. As with previous books, the author adds new characters to the mix while continuing to watch others, like ghosts Nana Pratt and Ray Bauer, grow and expand what they are now capable of doing. I especially liked the walk down memory lane as Lorelei meets some really cool characters from her past, which she seemingly has embraced.

#Review - Play Dead by Annabel Chase #Contemporary #Fantasy

Series: Crossroads Queen # 6
Format: Kindle, 282 pages
Release Date: June 20, 2024

Genre: Urban Fantasy

In Fairhaven, there’s no rest for the wicked, the weary, or anyone in between.

This time, the Wild Hunt is on its way to town, commanded by its ruthless leader who has a score to settle with Lorelei’s friend, the Night Mallt.

Meanwhile, the Castle has opened its doors as a sanctuary for an unexpected and unwelcome visitor, which puts a damper on Lorelei’s budding relationship with resident demon prince of hell, Kane Sullivan. Even worse, the houseguest brings another hunting party to town, one that Lorelei has been careful to avoid.

As the threats escalate and secrets are revealed, Lorelei must come to terms with a moment of truth she never anticipated—if she can survive the hunt.

Play Dead is the Sixth installment in author Annabel Chase's Crossroads Queen series. 35-year-old Lorelei Clay moved to Fairhaven, Pennsylvania and purchased Bluebeard's Castle because she was ready for some peace and quiet. It has been anything but. At the end of the previous installment, Lorelei was asked by a woman who tried to kill her for sanctuary from the Corporation. Addison Gray aka Avatar for the Goddess Aite, Goddess of mischief and ruin, has come close to unlocking Lorelei's identity.

Meanwhile, Lorelei discovers a very rare white stag that is said to be endowed with special powers. If you catch it that is. Lorelei has some explaining to do to those she has begun to call friends, and that number is increasing outside of ghosts Ray Bauer and Nana Pratt. Like Gunther Saxon and Camryn Sable from the assassins guild and La Fortuna society of tarot cards who knew there was something different about Lorelei, and now knows the truth. And, later the blind vampire Otto Visconti who was the first she found a connection to.

Unfortunately for Lorelei, if the Corporation can't get Addison back, they are going to focus more clearly on her. Then comes the unexpected visit from Matilda of the night who is Lorelei's closest friend. It seems as though Matilda is no longer leader of the Wild Hunt and that spells trouble for Fairhaven since the new leader has decided that the area would make excellent hunting grounds. Lorelei, who has accepted the title of luminal queen of the Crossroads, puts together an alliance to fight the Wild Hunt and save Fairhaven.

So, not only do we get more information about who Lorelei really is, this time around we learn who her parents are and I think it will surprise even the more skeptic of readers. Once again, we get some curious new characters, returning characters, and if that wasn't enough to make you want to see what happens next, learning who your parents are has pretty much guaranteed that you will be under the microscope by a powerful group who keeps Gods and Goddess around under different Avatars. Oh, and there are sexy times that lots of readers have been looking for and months of Lorelei not trusting herself to have fun.

Series: Crossroads Queen # 5
Format: Kindle, 284 pages
Release Date: April 11, 2024

Genre: Urban Fantasy

Lorelei Clay is determined to put down roots in the small town of Fairhaven no matter what the universe throws at her. After all, she’s invested her entire savings in the rundown monstrosity known as the Castle—and she’s on the verge of investing her heart in a certain prince of hell, if he can overcome his literal internal demon.

Lorelei and Kane aren’t the only ones haunted by their histories. When unfamiliar werewolves cause trouble in town, Arrowhead alpha Weston Davies realizes his tragic past is about to catch up with him and threaten the life he's managed to build.

Meanwhile, an issue with a disgruntled fae could result in an interrealm incident if it isn’t handled with velvet gloves, which isn’t exactly Lorelei’s style.

As their problems continue to mount, it becomes clear that unless they face their respective pasts—they'll have no future.

Dead Weight is the Fifth installment in author Annabel Chase's Crossroads Queen series. 35-year-old Lorelei Clay is determined to put down roots in the small town of Fairhaven no matter what the universe throws at her. After all, she’s invested her entire savings in the rundown monstrosity known as the Castle—and she’s on the verge of investing her heart in a certain prince of hell, if he can overcome his literal internal demon. Lorelei and Kane aren’t the only ones haunted by their histories.

When unfamiliar werewolves cause trouble in town by attacking one of Arrowhead alpha Weston Davies' pack members, he realizes his tragic past is about to catch up with him and threaten the life he's managed to build. A past that he had thought he left behind after he fled from Minnesota to Fairhaven. Even though Davies and his pack act like they don't need anyone to help them, especially a certain woman who can't control the dead, and give people nightmares, Lorelei has pretty much accepted that she is the so called Crossroads Queen.

Meanwhile, Lorelei meets one of the fair folk who came through the Crossroads. Sian, a member of the Seelie Court, claims that he is looking for his sister, Rhiannon, who may have been switched at birth with a human child 19 years ago. Lorelei's only lead seems to be a woman named Sarah. Thankfully, Lorelei has two ghosts living with her who have been really helpful lately. Ray Bauer seems to have caught the bug for using the computer, while Nana Pratt has learned how to actually cook, and other things thanks to Lorelei.

And, if that wasn't enough to keep Lorelei busy, Vincenzo Magnarella, the Mafia Vampire, is still holding a grudge against Lorelei after she destroyed his lab to ensure other humans weren't used as place settings for Gods and Goddesses. Thanks to Vincenzo, Lorelei also gets an unusual appointment with three woman you can call Fates in NYC. Lorelei gets a rude awakening when the women tell her that her fate was chosen for her and that she will one day play and important role in a yet undetermined event.

One of the things that hangs over this story is the relationship between Kane and Lorelei. He knows her secret, and now so doesn't Weston. It appears that she is also ready to tell Gunther and his cousin Camryn. The pair are La Fortuna Mage society assassins who use tarot cards and have become friendly with Lorelei since she saved Camryn. But I digress. It appears they are dancing around each other taking things slow. If anyone is to blame, it is Lorelei since Kane is willing to move as fast as she allows. The ending is one of the first that I remember where the author leaves the book ending open to continue to the next installment in the series. I also think that the author needs to address the stuff the Fates discussed with her, and what that will mean to the people of Fairhaven.

#Review - Dead Wrong by Annabel Chase #Fantasy

Series: Crossroads Queen # 4
Format: Kindle, 260 pages
Release Date: January 11, 2024
Publisher: Red Palm Press LLC
Source: Kindle Unlimited
Genre: Urban Fantasy

Lorelei Clay has spent a lifetime keeping her secret. Now that Kane has discovered it, the prince of hell has cut her off, but she has no idea why. Not only has he disappeared from her life, he's also disappeared from Fairhaven, and his cohorts refuse to divulge his whereabouts.

When a series of strange attacks threaten the town, Lorelei is thrust back into the magical spotlight. This time, she isn't sure she can weather the storm without drawing too much attention to herself and, even worse, endangering the lives of everyone she's come to care about.

Dead Wrong is the fourth book in the Crossroads Queen series, featuring a strong female protagonist, a slow burn romance, magic and mayhem, and a coterie of paranormal friends and found family. Lorelai Chase moved from London to Fairhaven hoping to settle down. She purchased a rundown castle named after Bluebeard, and has since tried to keep away from the supernatural shenanigans. But with a Crossroads located in Fairhaven, Lorelei's secret was sure to come out.

Six months ago, Lorelei's secret did come out, and now one of the Prince's of Hell, Kane Sullivan, knows her secret and makes himself scarce. Lorelei has the ability of not only talking with ghosts, but she can control them, as well as nightmares. The thing about Lorelei is that she finds it extremely hard not to get involved when innocent lives are at stake. Her grandfather once told her that it's one thing to be strong, but you also need to be touch. There are those who would take advantage of her if they knew the truth about her.

She's also made an enemy out of a vampire mobster named Vincenzo which comes with a curious assassin named Brody which I don't think we've seen the last of. Meanwhile, Lorelai must deal with yet another bad situation when it seems yet another dangerous character from the Corporation shows up to test how far Lorelai is willing to do to keep her secret. When a series of strange attacks threaten the town, Lorelei is thrust back into the magical spotlight. This time, she isn't sure she can weather the storm without drawing too much attention to herself and, even worse, endangering the lives of everyone she's come to care about.

*Thought* I found it interesting that we finally learn more about Kane's background and why he is in Fairhaven. Should be interesting to see how that plays out later in the series. I do not believe that we've seen the last of players from the Corporation, especially now that Lorelai's secret is out in the open. Lorelai appears to be a bargaining chip in a much bigger battle to come. Lorelai's relationship with Kane finally goes there, and it didn't take up that much of the story which I am glad. This is the first book in which the moniker Crossroads Queen has appear. And that is because of Kane's thinking that is what brought Lorelai here. I am two books behind in this series, but getting close to being caught up!

#Review - Dead Last by Annabel Chase #Fantasy #Paranormal

Series: Crossroads Queen # 3
Format: Kindle, 237 pages
Release Date: October 5, 2023
Publisher: Red Palm Press LLC
Source: Kindle Unlimited
Genre: Urban Fantasy

Dead Last is the third book in the six book Crossroads Queen Urban Fantasy series written by Annabel Chase featuring Lorelei Clay. Lorelei left London behind to move into Bluebeard's Castle in Fairhaven. The Castle is a relic of the Gilded Age, and even includes a moat! She also ended up with two ghosts (Nana Pratt and Ray Bauer) for company. She was unaware that Fairhaven was close to a Crossroads portal that may link numerous alternative realities. No matter how hard Lorelei has tried to stay hidden away from the world in her Castle, something or someone keeps asking for help and she feels a need to help.

In this episode, answers to who Lorelei really is will be revealed, and the resulting revelation may change the dynamics between Lorelei and Kane Sullivan, the powerful demon lord, who she has been playing a dangerous game of cat and mouse with. This story takes place around Halloween which Lorelei has no use for. In fact, she doesn't even have any candy or a pumpkin! It isn't until she's told that people in Fairhaven are falling asleep, and not dreaming that things seem to become dangerous. To that end, Lorelei ends up working with Weston Davies, Alpha of the Arrowhead werewolf pack.

When humans start to fall asleep, and not dreaming, including Alicia's mother, Lorelei begins to wonder if this is because of her presence in Fairhaven. Lorelei's other problem is Naomi Smith an investigator from the Corporation who knows that Lorelei isn't human. The Corporation was introduced in the previous installment which led Lorelei to uncovering a massive treasure vault kept in an alternative universe. Naomi takes an immediate interest in Lorelei and whether or not she had anything to do with certain members of the Corporation ending up dead. She's also there at the end when the truth about Lorelei is revealed.

Lorelei's third challenge is helping an assassin guild member, Gunther Saxon, who comes to her because his sister Dusty is in trouble after making a bad deal in drinking an elixir which ended up turning her into a swam. Lorelei reluctantly agrees to help them and finds herself embroiled in a difficult situation with a vampire mobster who doesn't exactly get along with Kane Sullivan or her scramble playing blind vampire friend Otto Visconti. Because of this, Lorelei's actual persona is revealed, and that doesn't sit right with Kane who all but goes silent. Whether or not this is the last time we hear from the Corporation, is totally at the hands of the author.

*Overall* This is an entertaining book, and I am not sad that there hasn't been any romance up to this point. While the synopsis says there's supposed to be a slow burn romance, I am happy just to figure out more about who Lorelei is, and how powerful she can be.

#Review - Dead of Night by Annabel Chase #Fantasy #Urban

Series: Crossroads Queen # 2
Format: Kindle, 220 pages
Release Date: July 20, 2023
Publisher: Red Palm Press LLC
Source: Kindle Unlimited
Genre: Urban Fantasy

For Lorelei Clay, no good deed goes unpunished…

Reluctant ghost whisperer Lorelei Clay wants a working moat, which is the only reason she agrees to help with yet another supernatural situation. The simple ghostbusting job quickly escalates when Lorelei discovers the involvement of a powerful and ancient collective not known for their social skills.

Lorelei wants nothing more than to get back to her renovations and her life of solitude, but it becomes painfully clear that if she can’t fix this small-town problem, Fairhaven is going to suffer big-time consequences.

Annabel Chase's Dead of Night is the second installment in the author Crossroads Queen series. It has been six months since Lorelai Clay moved to the sleepy town of Fairhaven, Pennsylvania from London where she thought she would find peace and quiet while refurbishing the Bluebeard Castle. Anabel lives in a town that is close to the Crossroads, which means there are all sorts of paranormals living in town. Including a Prince of Hell, Kane Sullivan, who also heads an assassin guild.

Lorelei is a Ghost Whisperer who lives with two ghosts (Nana Pratt and Ray Bauer) who she has tried to lay down ground rules in order to avoid unnecessary questions about her abilities. Because she wants a working moat, she agrees to help a real estate specialist called the Boss with yet another supernatural situation. All she has to do is go to a certain house and ascertain whether the owner, who hasn't been seen in months, is dead or alive.

The simple ghost busting job quickly escalates when Lorelei discovers a dragon shifter, unusual guardians, and a treasure stored in an alternative reality that may indicate the involvement of a powerful and ancient collective not known for their social skills. When they get mad, towns disappear from existence. Lorelei wanted a life of solitude, but it becomes painfully clear that if she can’t fix this small-town problem, Fairhaven is going to suffer big-time consequences.

*Thoughts* The first book in this series hinted that a possible romantic entanglement was possible between Lorelai and Kane Sullivan. Then there is the curious relationship between Lorelai and a vampire named Otto who is apparently not well liked by most of the supernatural community. This is the second novel where Mallt-y-Nos, also known as the Night Mallt, a crone in Welsh mythology who rides with Arawn and the hounds of the Wild Hunt, appears to help Lorelai with her problems. Eventually, maybe the next installment, we will learn the truth about Lorelai. Lorelei seems to be in hiding, but from what? She refuses to share with anyone what her magical abilities actually are, but we know that ghosts can not resist her. We know she is not a necromancer, a witch, a demon, a vampire, or a werewolf. Could she be related to Matilda in some way?

Series: Crossroads Queen # 1
Format: Kindle, 236 pages
Release Date: May 11, 2023

Genre: Fantasy / Paranormal

Lorelei Clay isn’t like other people. She isn’t even like other supernaturals. Her specialties are the nightmares of the living, communication with the dead, and cooking bacon until it’s golden brown and perfectly crispy—no magic required. Six months ago she moved to the ultimate fixer upper, a monstrosity from the Gilded Age that borders the local cemetery in the sleepy Pennsylvania town of Fairhaven.

Lorelei is content to spend the next few years in solitude, renovating the house and avoiding humanity, until a missing young woman disrupts her plans. Lorelei’s search for the teenager means crossing paths with the residents she’s successfully avoided so far, including the human police chief, the coven, a cursed vampire, the assassins guild, the werewolf pack, and the mysterious and infuriatingly alluring owner of The Devil’s Playground, an elegant nightclub that caters to the local supernatural clientele. Lorelei plans to find the girl quickly and return to the privacy of her castle walls before anyone learns her secrets, but you know what they say about the best laid plans…

Dead to the World, by Annabel Chase, is the first installment in the Crossroads Queen series. Lorelei Clay isn’t like other people. She isn’t even like other supernaturals. Her specialties are the nightmares of the living, communication with the dead, and cooking bacon until it’s golden brown and perfectly crispy—no magic required. After years living in London running her own agency tracking down lost heirs, she's made enough money to purchase the castle formerly known as Bluebeard's Castle which has its own moat, and graveyard next door.

Lorelei is content to spend the next few years in solitude, renovating the house and avoiding humanity, until a missing young woman named Ashley Pratt disrupts her plans. To make matters even more suspenseful, she's not the only one who has gone missing, or found dead. Lorelei’s search for the teenager means crossing paths with the residents she’s successfully avoided so far, including the human police chief who lost a deputy, a witch coven with secrets, a cursed vampire who loves classical music, the assassins guild, the werewolf pack who smells something different and dangerous about Lorelei, and the mysterious and infuriatingly alluring owner of The Devil’s Playground, an elegant nightclub that caters to the local supernatural clientele.

Lorelei plans to find the girl quickly and return to the privacy of her castle walls before anyone learns her secrets, but you know what they say about the best laid plans. Lorelei also has two ghosts who refuse to cross over. They may be irritating at times, but they know the history of Fairhaven. Lorelei soon uncovers that Fairhaven is a literal Supernatural epicenter. That is why she is curious if someone put a whammy on her to send her to Fairhaven which doesn't have anyone looking at the multiple gateways. Especially when characters like Matilda of the Night show up.

*Thoughts* I ended up rating this as a pretty good overall story even though there was no background to Lorelei and her abilities or the fact that she seems destined to confront the deadly demon, Kane Sullivan who owns the Devil's Playground and runs an assassin guild. I kind of like the old vampire Otto Visconti who requests Lorelei spend some time with him while he teaches her what's really happening in Fairhaven.

The most curious part is almost all of the supernaturals that Lorelei encounters, know that she is not truly human. That there is something more to her than meets the eyes outside of her ability to speak to ghosts, and help them cross over. In closing, I have never read this author before, but I have heard that she tends to write lots of books. I will, of course, continue with this series to find out Lorelei's secret, and whether she can avoid Kane's lure.
