Synopsis:
"History is on repeat, and things didn't go so well the last time. "
Alexandria isn't sure she's going to make it to her eighteenth birthday--to her Awakening. A long-forgotten, fanatical order is out to kill her, and if the Council ever discovers what she did in the Catskills, she's a goner... and so is Aiden.
If that's not freaky enough, whenever Alex and Seth spend time "training"--which really is just Seth's code word for some up-close and personal one-on-one time--she ends up with another mark of the Apollyon, which brings her one step closer to Awakening ahead of schedule. Awesome.
But as her birthday draws near, her entire world shatters with a startling revelation and she's caught between love and Fate. One will do anything to protect her. One has been lying to her since the beginning. Once the gods have revealed themselves, unleashing their wrath, lives will be irrevocably changed... and destroyed.
Those left standing will discover if love is truly greater than Fate...
*REVIEW*
Deity picks up one week after the ending of Pure. Alex Andros has more than a few worries on her plate after returning from New York and that doesn’t stop with the release of Deity. She’s worried that the Council will discover her actions in which she survived an assassination. She’s worried that Aiden’s own actions will be discovered and he will be labeled as a traitor or worse. She’s worried that a secret organization will, once again, try to kill her before she reaches the age of 18. Above all, she’s nervous about the fact that her 18th birthday is right around the corner, and she will Awaken and become something else entirely; Apollyon.
The revealing aspect of this book is Seth’s ability to keep his agenda a secret from Alex even while they are training together. Then he lies like a rug when she asks pointed questions which ultimately would have led her to the same conclusion as Aiden; Seth cannot be trusted! I have come to despise and hate Seth with my very fiber after reading this book. On the other hand, I have a firm grasp that Aiden is absolutely the best and only choice for Alex even though their relationship has been prohibited by antiquated rules. Their interaction when they are together makes me wonder why anyone would want to lean towards Seth.
Deity takes readers on a roller coaster ride wondering how much Alex can take before she implodes and goes bonsai on her detractors. She is tried and tested over and over again, and somehow JLA manages to allow her to walk away from death defying situations with her sarcasm and wit in place. You are left wondering if Alex is going to wise up about her feelings towards Seth and discover the truth behind his actions, and discover the identity of those who are behind Seth’s push towards achieving an early Awakening for Alex.
Overall, Deity is a bit slower than Pure in the beginning, yet the excitement and suspense isn’t muted in any way by JLA. JLA leaves readers with just enough suspense and excitement that you dream about reading Apollyon while thinking about the way the book is left off.

I totally agreed with Aiden all along! SETH cannot be trusted!!! Well, he may have a good side in him...somewhere. BUT he is truly only interested in himself!
