Life's never easy . . .

The Mastermind has finally been identified, but before Jeff and Kitty Katt-Martini can take him down, they, their daughter Jamie, Charles Reynolds, Paul Gower, Christopher White, and several others are zapped out of their solar system and into another.

Landing in scattered groups on various areas of Beta Eight in the Alpha Centauri system means getting the team back together will be a major issue. But it's only one of the challenges they'll face. Kitty and Company have to forge alliances with the wide variety of sentient natives on the planet while plotting to create a civil war and overthrow the king - who just may be a clone of one of their bitterest enemies, Ronaldo Al Dejahl.

Of course, to do this, they have to overcome an assortment of dangerous obstacles, protect a group of refugees, take mind reading lessons, and seek out unexpected new allies as they journey to the Centerpoint of the world.

And once they reach the All Seeing Mountain, new issues and surprises await. Because there's more than a small war going on - they're in the midst of the Alpha Centauri Civil War!

Alien Separation is the Eleventh installment in the Katherine "Kitty" Katt series. The story picks up right where the previous installment, Universal Alien, left off. After being sent to another universe and returning after kicking ass and taking names, again, all Kitty wants to do is have a little sexy time with her husband Jeff Martini, and some mommy time with daughter Jamie, the hybrid alien baby who has abilities nobody has seen before.

The Mastermind has been identified after Kitty's travel to a multi-verse where there are different versions of her, and Jamie. But, what happens when Kitty has to reveal the identity of the Mastermind to her best friend Charlies Reynolds who has been the target of many of THIS persons actions? Will he lose his mind and go on a rampage? Or, will he remain calm, cool, and collective until all the pieces of the puzzle are in front of him?

In epic Gini Koch fashion, Kitty, Jeff, Jamie, Charles and 18 others who are part of Team Kitty, are spirited away to Beta Eight in the Alpha Centauri system not long after Kitty returns. So much for a break! Kitty guesses pretty quickly who beamed the group to this planet, but not why since the Mastermind was at the top of Team Kitty's agenda. The team is spread out across the planet, and along the way, Kitty ends up making new friends, and becoming the Namer of All Things.

This is what Koch is really good at and why I continue to rave about this series and encourage others to read it. Koch creates unusual worlds, and strange and unusual new beings. She puts Kitty in her element which is to gather everyone around her together, gain new allies, and fight like her very life depends on it. 9 times out of 10, it really does. This time around, a familiar adversary (the Z'porrah) appears and it is up to Kitty and her collection of eclectic beings from across the universe to do all they can to stop a Civil War from tearing apart the Alpha Centauri system and in turn, Earth.

I still have some minor questions about the real identity of the Mastermind. I'm wondering if Ms Gini is playing a game of shells with us. You know, giving us a three choices, and asking us which shell is the ball under? I still say it "might" be someone else who will shock us when his/her identity is revealed in all its glory. Hopefully not though. I like the idea that Kitty has a solid group of loyal people who even though they roll their eyes at her Kitty-ism, they stand beside her knowing that she will be the one who comes up with ways to defeat their enemies. And, Kitty is HARDLY a cowering flower. She takes center stage, and that's where she belongs.

I think you know by know, that I am a huge fan of Gini Koch, and this series. I adore the world building. I love the sarcasm, banter, romance, mystery, action, and a slew of superhero like characters that stand up against evil where ever they go. Koch really did throw me for a loop. I was expecting the next step in the war against the Mastermind and THIS persons's allies. Instead, Koch pushes Kitty and her team into defending a planet against hostile forces, and saving the universe. Then twists and turns the story into revealing even more surprises waiting for Team Kitty.

What, I ask respectfully, was with that ending? Not that I am actually complaining. I am just surprised that Koch has decided to go in that direction. We haven't discovered all there is to know about Jamie's abilities, now we get another element to add to the equation. Team Kitty is at war, but now Koch is going to add yet another surprise to the series. Of course the sneak peak at the end of the book has whet my desire to find out what happens next. Thankfully, Alien in Chief (Katherine "Kitty" Katt #12), releases this December so the wait isn't that long at all!
