A rebel with a cause.
Rebel has the best job in the world. She’s a bounty hunter.
And her targets are vampires, werewolves, shifters, and other supernatural entities.
Yes, she’s a supernatural bounty hunter.
It’s not an easy job, but it’s necessary, and it’s training.
Because Rebel has a quest, one that might kill her, but then, that’s a typical day in the human’s life. Yes, she’s human, but that hasn’t stopped her yet, and it won’t stop her now. She will learn who or what exactly killed her brother.
Hunter's Quest is the first installment in author Nicole Zoltack's Rebel, Supernatural Bounty Hunter trilogy. Meet 21-year old Rebel. She hunts whatever she is paid to hunt. Could be vampires, werewolves, boogeymen, trolls, gremlins, or leprechaun. Rebel is on a Quest to find those responsible for killing her brother Mason and his wife Gracie 5 years ago, while leaving her alive for some reason that still remains an unsolved mystery.
This story hints that there is a Magical Hunters Academy which the author has apparently covered in one of her other series. Rebel, who has a black-belt in karate and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, while being armed with silver knives and a gun that shoots silver bullets, takes a job from a leprechaun who wants her to bring him a werewolf in wolf form. The wolf in question is the alpha of the Blood Moon pack. Curiously, she encounters an ogre named Azir who will become one of her allies along with Ruka after she helps defeat a boogeyman.
Amad is a genie who wants the best for Rebel, but knows that she isn't asking the right questions to get the right answers to her solo quest. Rebel isn't clueless about the supernatural world. She has access to sources that no human is supposed to have. She also knows about the Magical Hunters Academy which trains supernaturals to become hunters, slayers, and executioners but doesn't care for them. As the only human bounty hunter, Rebel may be at a disadvantage, but she never allows that fact to stop her.
Thanks to making a friendship with a fairy named Vinca, Rebel soon finds that she is in high demand. Vinca comes in handy whenever Rebel needs to travel long distances quickly, like California to find a cyclops. A witch named Morena asks Rebel to bring back a mermaid tear, cyclops eye, and a dragon's stomach. The witch claims that she has a spell that could unlock Rebel's memories of the killer who left her alone while killing her brother and sister-in-law.
The witch also knows Rebel's true name, which I won't actually spoil, since it really has no bearing on whether you like this story or not. Said witches next job for Rebel involves killing another witch whom she has issues with. This is where Rebel meets Darius who is more than he seems and will be instrumental in Rebel surviving one of the hardest jobs she's ever taken; killing of an entire Wolf Pack, as well as killing an extremely dangerous gremlin. Darius is a member of a group known as HEX U (hunters, executioners, Slayers).
I would like to see more of Darius and Rebel. I would love to see more of Rebel and Mirella who appeared in her own series. I would also like to have more of Clarissa Garcia who has been keeping an eye on Rebel, knew her brother and sister, and who also had her own series apparently. Seeing a trend here! Pretty good overall story. I would hope Rebel doesn't look a gift horse in the mouth by turning her back on possible allies.
eye catching cover....supernatural bounty hunter...sounds like one for me
