Magic, Mystery, and the Multiverse, by Aurora Winter, is the first installment in the authors The Marvelous Multiverse App series. Ana Zest might look like your ordinary teen, dreaming of Hollywood stardom, but she’s anything but typical. With enigmatic violet eyes, and long white hair that hide a secret even she’s unaware of, her life takes a fantastical turn when she and her brother, Zackary, are thrust into an enchanting multiverse and find themselves in the heart of a cosmic mystery.
So, let's get to the meat and potatoes instead of just re-posting the synopsis which I am bad at doing. Zorana (Ana) Zest and her younger brother Zackary are sent to their Uncles home in England while their father is off to Africa to shoot his next movie. Even after they are told not to mess with any of their uncles cars, what is the first thing teens do when the adult's aren't around? Ignore the warnings and steal a car called Leeves and the Marvelous Multiverse App.
Of course, ignoring the warning ends up sending Ana and Zack to a parallel universe. So, like Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz whose house lands on a wicked witch, Ana ends up running over a powerful Censor which leads to a series of events that focuses on yet another curious prophecy that surrounds Ana. Ana gets her wish for the role of a lifetime as she explores the multiverse and encounters a wild and wonderful cast of characters, including a talking dog named Ven. As Ana and Zackary unravel the mystery of the multiverse, they discover a world in peril.
Its fate lies in the hands of the one foretold by prophecy. Could it be Ana? Everything goes terribly wrong when the evil Censor kidnaps Zackary and holds him hostage. Can Ana save her brother and this world? Will she overcome the forces of evil, claim her magical birthright, and fulfill the prophecy? By the way, if you are over the age of 30, this book is likely not for you. I am pretty sure that the author intentionally wrote this series in the same vein as the Wizard of Oz with Ana being Dorothy. She even has her own talking dog. The Wizard is the man who saves her and puts her on the path to her so called fate. And, the Crimson Censor is definitely the bad witch from the North.
