It’s a typical day of bureaucracy and stress for President and First Lady Jeff and Kitty Katt-Martini, made more stressful when alien spacecraft are spotted making a beeline for Earth, none of them from the Alpha Centauri system. Then a cryptic request from an old adversary pulls Kitty out of the White House and into an explosion—and an even more explosive situation. Not only is the Mastermind back in the game, influencing the Club 51 True Believers to find and destroy all Centaurion bases, but he’s also found a dangerous benefactor and created some frightening new cloning abilities.

And, just to make things a little more challenging, those alien spacecraft are coming to ask Kitty for protection, and asylum on Earth. Police stations being blown up and war helicopters in play aren’t enough to keep Kitty down, especially when she’s got some new alien friends helping out. But what these aliens share will rock the world—the other aliens on their way to Earth are fleeing an enemy so terrifying that even a Z’porrah ship is trying to get to Earth for safety and protection. And if Earth isn’t able to stop this threat, there may not be anything left of humanity. Now Kitty and Company have to figure out where the Mastermind is and stop him, before any new aliens land. And then they have to save the world from a deadly invasion. Or, as Kitty calls it, Thursday.

Alien Nation, by author Gini Koch, is the 14th installment in the Katherine "Kitty" Katt science fiction series that has been at the top of my list for some time now. Alien Nation picks up 6 weeks after the ending of Camp AlienThis book has everything you can expect from Gini Koch. It has new aliens who have fled their home worlds and are apparently seeking asylum from the most interesting and well known person in several galaxies; Kitty.

It has more of Algar, who for readers who haven't read this series, is sort of Kitty's guiding voice when things are at their worst. You can call him the all knowing who knows things, but gets Kitty to guess until she finally gets what he can't tell her. It has the usual action, adventure, banter, sarcasm, humor, romance, and secondary characters who we've come to love like they were apart of our own families.

For the past 6 years, Kitty has had encounters with all sorts of villains, and some of them, she's made friends and allies out of. That really never gets old knowing that Kitty has a tendency of pulling a rabbit from her mysterious purse while everyone else looks at her like she's grown another head. Kitty's nemeses list currently includes the Crazy Eights, Stephanie, the Mastermind, Leventhal Reid, and LaRue who have tried numerous times to eliminate Kitty from getting in the way of their world domination.

Kitty has been one of my favorites for awhile now. She's a kickass heroine who has saved the earth three times. She's been part of every single alliance that Earth has made with Alpha Four, and other alien races who have called Kitty friend, and ally. She's repaired broken alliances, removed one tyrannical leader and replaced him with one more inclined to be friendly towards Earth. She's responsible for stopping a multi-planet Civil War that could have spread to Earth. Now, she has to face an Alien invasion that hasn't been seen in anyone's lifetime. She's even moved the Earth into joining an even larger community thanks to her relationship with the Planetary Council.

Kitty may not be the sharpest mind in the group like Charles, but her quick actions, her strange ideas, and her strength as a leading character are unmatched. As for her position as First Lady (FLOTUS), Kitty weaves her own path, and it is a path that sometimes gives her the right to "Put up the Paw" to shut people down so that she can fix things that others have broken. She's still not happy that she was betrayed by her friends, but she is adult enough to forgive and move on. Especially when she has her own team who would follow her into hell and back without blinking.

Alien Nation is a fantastic, thrill a minute ride that finishes a one huge story arc to its action packed conclusion, and opens Kitty up for an even more interesting adventure in the next installments. If you haven't noticed, I am joyously giddy with pleasure at seeing my blog up in the spotlight on the cover. It is a true honor to be out among the big names in blogging, and I thank Gini, and DAW for that honor.
