Q: What hyped up book do you think was not worth all the talk?

Answer:

I am probably going to get killed over this commentary, but, New Moon by Stephanie Meyer was absolutely the worse book I've read in a very long time. I struggled through it, but, made it till the end. I'm still wondering if I am a sadist or not.

Answer:

Actually, I just finished Cursed by Jennifer L Armentrout and posted my review. Now, I am working my way through Demons by Heather Frost which releases 09/11/2012. In my humble opinion, it's kind of slow. I am truly hoping that it's better than the first book in the series Seers which I didn't like all that much.

Q: Best Cover? What is the best cover of a book that you’ve read and didn’t like?

My answer: Well, crap. I've read so many books over the past (2) years, that it's hard to just count one as the best cover,  and book I didn't like. So, here are a few of my favorite covers, and books I really didn't care for. Remember, these are all subjective to MY tastes in what I like to read and what I thought about the book at a whole.

Q: What would you do over if you were to start your blog again from scratch?

A. There's so much I would love to do to my blog right now that it just boggles my mind. I hate the fact that I'm still a novice when it comes to certain things. So, I guess you could say that this question comes at at good time for me.

1. I would learn how to do HTML so that I can design my own features. Although I don't mind asking for help, it would be nice to actually do things on my own. It would also save me huge amounts of money in the process.

2. I need to get Photoshop registered asap! I need Photoshop for headers, buttons and giveaway headers. You know, all the good stuff you need to run a clean, and attractive blog.

3. I would have started my blog much earlier than I did. I joined Goodreads in 2009, why did it take me nearly 3 years to think about blogging?

4. Be more aggressive with my giveaways and Meme's. 

5. Ask for help from the experts in the field. Suggestions and comments on this particular answer are always welcomed!

6. Ask for help with my reviews. There are some days I really truly hate what my reviews sound like. I'm far from being stupid, or idiotic, yet, sometimes my brain acts like a rock, instead of a sponge.

7. I'll be returning to school for medical training next week which is supposed to last 8 months. I am seriously considering putting my blog on hold, or finding someone asap who can be a co-blogger when I'm unable to post Meme's and reviews. With all the blogs out in the universe, that is much harder than it seems. It seems that there are more and more bloggers out there than there used to be. I guess variety is the spice of life.

8. I need to know what I can offer or do to get more page views and comments! Again, any suggestions on this subject is absolutely desired and appreciated!

Q; Do your reading habits change based on your mood?
Do you read a certain genre if you are feeling depressed or happy?

My answer: 

Excellent question! Seriously, I was just tweeting, yapping, spreading the love about this

topic over the last week. I would say that YES, my reading habits do change based on

my mood. If I am in a terrible mood, I may end up reading something dark. If I am

happy, I may read a YA novel hoping that I'll be able to laugh at the silliness of the

main characters.

WHAT STARTED YOU BLOGGING?

Answer:

My answer is plain and simple. I joined Goodreads in 2009 and became enamored with

the fact that people were actually following MY reviews! Of course, due to

circumstances that were totally stupid on my part, I waited 2 more years before finally

creating my own blog. Naturally it was a piece of crap! :O) Thanks to Mariya Davis, my

blog is now respectful enough where I can actually post my thoughts, reviews, and other

fun stuff. One day, hopefully, I too shall make a mark on the very large blogging world!

And, that's my story, and I'm sticking to it!

Jumping Genres: Ever pick up a book from a genre you usually don't like and LOVE it?

Answer:

I would have to say Historical Romances. I really didn't much care for them until recently.

I guess you really need to start reading some good one's to break the so called ice.

One of my favorites is by Lisa Tawn Bergren. Her trilogy called River of Time was 

simply amazing. It had awesome characters, and I loved the fact that it took place

in 1322 Tuscany.

Birthday Wishes: Blow out the candles and imagine what character could pop outof your cake. Who is it and what book are they from?

My Answer:

I'm going to be an equal opportunity imaginator this week. This means that I will most

likely have characters of both sexes. Call this going native if you must.

My first choice(s) are Sirantha Jax, and March from the Sirantha Jax

series. Seriously I mean how can you deny either of them? Have you read this 

series? 

Preternatural Private Investigator and Paranormal Huntress Kassandra Lyall.

A little known series in the F/F genre. Kassandra is seriously kick-ass and she

has seriously hot lovers as well.

Merit from the Chicagoland Vampire Series by Chloe Neill. Of course, I wouldn't

be sad if  Ethan Sullivan showed up instead!

Since I follow so many different series, I could literally go on and on with my

characters. Naturally, being a bit older, I want to stay AWAY from the YA

characters who aren't out of their teens!

Feature & Follow Friday 06/22/2012

Question of the week:

If you could "unread" a book, which one would it be? Is it because you want to start over and experience it again for the first time? Or because it was THAT bad?

Answer:

As for my worse series, I'm probably going to be in deep kimchee over my answer, BUT, this is just the way I feel about the whole Anita Blake series. I would go back and UNREAD the entire series after Obsidian Butterfly (book 9). My reason(s) are simple: I am tired of all the characters that have been added and nobody seems to die, or get written out of the story line. I am sick and tired of the whole Ardeur situation and the fact that Anita has been infected with lycanthrope but is unable to shift. I'm not a prude by any means, but I just don't much care for all the BDSM in the books. I loved my Anita Blake the necromancer who kicked some serious vampire ass and raised the dead. I'm pretty sure I won't be reading any more of this series anytime soon.

As for my absolute favorite(s) that I wouldn't mind going back and Unreading; hands down it has to be the Sirantha Jax series by Ann Aguirre. I love this series and am so sad that the series is coming to a close this year. I would love to get reacquainted with each of the characters for the very first time.

After a week of I am back with this weeks questions.

This week our question pertains to Father's Day:

Question:
Who is the best Dad Figure in a book, and Why?

Answer:

Arthur Weasley — He’s certainly quirky, and occasionally seems a little clueless, but he’s really a great dad. He’s absolutely loyal and supportive of his sizable family, including continuing to try to redeem his estranged son Percy even when he seems completely lost. Without the benefit of wealth, he and Molly still manage to keep their family going strong even in the face of Death Eaters.

Others:

Tom Imura - older brother to Benny Imura in the Jonathan Maberry series. Tom is the one character that made the first book in the series. What happens to him in the second was extremely heart breaking and sad. I shall miss Tom.

Albus Dumbledore - Harry Potter Series by JK Rowling. Albus was more of a mentor than a father figure yet without his direction and support, Harry wouldn't have made it past his first year in school.

How about Faythe's father (Shifters) who fave up everything, including his own life, in order to ensure that Faythe and her brother's got everything they needed from life?

Abe - Rose's father from the Vampire Academy series. Ruthless, yet strangely proud that his daughter has the same spunk and cockiness that he does.

Q: You are a matchmaker -- your goal, hook up two characters from two of your favorite books. Who would it be? How do you think it would go?

A: My choices are Elena Michael's from Kelly Armstrong's Women of the Otherworld series with Curran from Ilona Andrews Kate Daniels Series. This question is so hard since both Elena and Curran are in perfect relationships that I wouldn't want to break up under any means. However, putting all that aside in the interest of having a warped sense of humor, these are my choices for the ideal match-up of the week. As far as how it would go, I think Elena would seriously have issues with Curran's bossiness just like Kate. She would definitely fit the role of an ideal female Alpha character.

Anyway, those are my choices and I'm sticking to them. What do you think?

Summer break is upon us! What would be the perfect vacation spot for you to catch up on your reading & relax?

My answer:

Well, since I live in Florida (Jacksonville Beach) where we are surrounded by 

wonderful beaches, that would be my choice. Then again, with me being out of

work for the past year or so, summer break is just another time for me to struggle 

until bills and my sanity until someone decides to hire me! I even thought about

driving to NY for the Memorial Day holiday just to get away from here!
