*My Thoughts*
Oh, Amanda, you know I adore you! You know I love this series, and would recommend it to ANYONE who actually pays attention to me and my reviews! You know I adore Darian, and the way she finds a way to kick ass and take names while managing to have two rather intense men at her beck and call in Tyler and Xander.
So, why, why I ask would you leave us hanging with THAT ENDING?!?!? My poor overworked heart can not take much more. Even though you are doing the whole Xander novella in November, book # 5 can NOT come out fast enough!
Against the Dawn picks up with Darian returning to Seattle from O Nel where she has spent time with Raif's daughter Brakae. I truly believe that Raif is the most wonderful, and supportive character in this series...bare none. I love the interaction & connection between Darian and Raif. If I could, I would wish for an entire book with Raif and Darian working together to defeat their enemies, and maybe add Asher to the mix since he shows just how much he seems to care about Darian and it's not about the sex, or the obsessiveness, or the desire to rain gifts down on her, or to show off.
The 2 weeks Darian spent in the Faerie Realm, is actually 6 months in the real world. Darian definitely needed the time away. She needed time away from Xander who is obsessive, needy, underhanded, king of accusations, and folly, and absolute possessiveness to the point of being smothering. Darian needed the time away to erase the memories of what happened to her in Crave the Darkness that nearly broke her for good, and left her with a changed outlook. As they say, there is no rest for heroes. Amanda adds the long secretive Lorik to the mix, and Oh boy, do things get strange for Darian. You will just have to pick up the book and read it to find out how it all turns out!
Against the Dawn is a fantastic read filled with Darian and Tyler and some major secrets that are touched on, but never fully revealed, and like I said, I can't wait for book # 5 to be released. I'm hoping that Amanda explores more of Ty's secrets in the next installment, including the ring Darian wears on her finger, which I have to say is absolutely awesome!
Can I raise my hand as being one who would LOVE to see Darian and Tyler end up truly together forever, and not Xander? I love the fact that they DO truly love each other, and Tyler really does mean it despite the fact that Xander has basically called her his consort, and attempts to bribe her into his corner with special gifts, and gets into her face, when she needs space. Even though Ty and Darian have had their share of problems in the past, and Ty still has some secrets he's not willing to reveal, Ty is genuine, and a serious badass, and they really are good together in bed, or the couch, or the floor......
