The immortal mages have risen, and they're out for blood.

Khya arrived at the Ryogan coast too late to stop the invasion. Now, cities are falling before the unrelenting march of an enemy army, and Khya's squad is desperately trying to stay ahead of them. Warning the Ryogans, though, means leaving her brother imprisoned even longer. Time is running out for everyone.

But how can her squad of ten stand against an army of ten thousand?

Calling in help from every ally she's made in Ryogo, Khya tries to build a plan that won't require sacrificing her friends or her brother. It's a tough balance to find, especially when the leadership role she thought she wanted sits heavy on her shoulders, and her relationship with Tessen is beginning to crack under the strain.

The end is coming, and there's no way to know who'll be left standing when it hits.

War of Storms is the third and final installment in author Erica Cameron's The Ryogan Chronicles. WOS picks up the story line from where the previous two books, Island of Exiles, and Sea of Strangers left off. Khya and her friends crossed the ocean and landed in Ryogan. They have made an alliance with a group which you can pretty much call a gypsy caravan. They have found a weapon that may be used to stop immortals in their track.

But, what they didn't do is stop is the invasion of Ryogan and the wrath of one of the Immortals, Varan, who is wary of Khya and her ever expanding abilities. Khya, Sanii, Etaro, Rai, Zonna, Tessen and others must find a way to convince the leaders of Ryogan, who by the way, hate them, that it is in their best interest to ally with them & the gypsies in order to take a stand against a man who was exiled hundreds of years before from Ryogan in order to prevent mass slaughters of the Ryogan people and anyone else who stands in the way.

The story is action packed, and filled with some really amazing characters. Especially Khya. Khya has not only become one of the more talented characters, but she has become immortal, which means that she has to get used to the emotions that are more powerful than were she a mere mortal. She has also became the leader that her people needed her to be. For Khya, this means that people will either live or die by her choices. Heavy is the head who wears the crown.

There is a brief chapter where Khya brother Yorri, who she has been fighting to save for the past year, wakes and realizes that he is still bound to a platform and apparently his injuries quickly heal. Yorri won't show up for awhile in the story, but his connection to Khya, but also his soul mate Sanii are important to the overall story. I appreciate the fact that the author has provided readers a list of characters, where they are from, and other important information that you will need to enjoy the book. Honestly? Had there not been a glossary of names, places, and talents, I would have been lost.  The ending of this series is both satisfying and complete. There really isn't any plot holes left to be wrapped up. In fact, I loved the final scene in the book between Khya and Tessen who she has been dancing around since the series began.

The Ryogan Chronicles are best enjoyed in order.
