This Spartan makes her own destiny . . .

Most kids at the Colorado branch of Mythos Academy know me as Rory Forseti, the daughter of Reaper assassins. Secretly, I’m a member of Team Midgard, a group of students and adults tasked with stopping Covington, the evil leader of the Reapers of Chaos. For me, the mission is a deeply personal one, since Covington is also the man who murdered my parents.

When my friends and I get a lead on a powerful artifact that Covington wants to steal, we think we finally have a chance to thwart the Reapers and stop them for good. Team Midgard comes up with a plan, but everything goes sideways, and I’m suddenly in the fight of my life.

My worst fears might have come true, but I know what my Spartan destiny is—to save my friends, or die trying . . .

Spartan Destiny, by author Jennifer Estep, is the third and final installment in the authors Mythos Academy: Colorado trilogy. This series focuses on Rory Forseti the cousin to Gwen Frost from the original series. Rory is a Spartan. She has the ability to pick up any object and know how to kill with it. Rory was chosen as Signy's champion, and carries a talking sword named Babs. Rory is also a member of Team Midgard, a group of kids (Mateo Solis, Zoe Wayland, Ian Hunter) and adults (Hiro Takeda, Rachel Maddox, Professor Dalaja Idun) tasked with stopping the evil Reapers of Chaos.

There is one Reaper in particular that Rory is determined to hunt down at all costs: Covington, the man who murdered her parents and made her an outcast for the most part until she was accepted by Team Midgard and fell for Ian. Rory has a plan. She chooses to break protocol in an effort to protect the most dangerous artifacts under the Library of Antiquities. Rory knows that if Covington and his Reapers get hold of any of these artifacts, it's game over. Nothing will stop Covington from taking Rory and making her a mindless pawn.

Rory wears Aphrodite's Cuff which makes her immune from being influenced by others. Rory wants badly to defeat Covington before he uses the Narcissus Heart on everyone she has come to love and respect. The Heart is capable of turning people into mindless minions. Covington seems to always been one step ahead of Rory and her friends. So much so that even an innocent break-in to find another artifact leads to another loss by Rory and her friends and a determined Covington to isolate Rory from her friends and turn the school on its head.

But, thanks to some curious & secretive planning by Rory in stealing and replacing key artifacts with fakes without telling anyone, there may finally be hope of taking down Covington and his Reapers once and for all. This story has brief appearances from Logan Quinn and his father, as well as a really brief appearance from Gwen. The adorable Gryphon's are back again, and they once again steal the show. The relationships between Rory and Ian take a giant step forward, while Mateo and Zoe might actually find that they have more in common than they thought. Rory proves her metal and loyalty and I have to say she may be more impressive than Gwen.
