The other students resent her; an angry young hunter with the most amazing green eyes refuses to mentor her; and someone or some 'thing' is killing students on their birthdays.

Bay-Lee teams up with the gorgeous hunter, a mean-girl with a deadly secret, and a few others to solve this mystery before they all die.Join us at Van Helsing Academy... if you dare.

Bait - Van Helsing Academy, is the first installment in author K.C. Blake's Order of the Spirit Realm. Ever since her mother was murdered by werewolves 11 years ago, 16-year old Bay-Lee Bishop has been living under assumed names while being protected by her uncle Connor, and her friend Gavin Murdock. After Bay-Lee is visited by both a Reaper and Tyler Beck in the same night, she is warned that her uncle and her father are keeping secrets from her and it's past time for her to open up her eyes and seek the truth before something kills her on her 17th birthday.

She's told that she will be going to New Zealand where Van Helsing Academy is located to finally begin training in becoming a Hunter. Something she has been driving for since she was little and was taught by Van Helsing to fight and a whole lot more. Bay-Lee is driven by a desire for vengeance against the pack that murdered her mother. Unfortunately, Bay-Lee's world is going to get a whole lot more complicated when students start dying on their birthday, and she learns of the prophecy that she is supposed to be part of along with Nick Gallos who is one of Van Helsing's top Hunters.

Of course, toss in a few mean girls along the way who truly hate Bay-Lee just because she's a Van Helsing, add the Order that wants Bay-Lee dead again just because, an alleged father who is either her real biological father, or a stand in for someone else, a prophecy that will either come true or it won't depending on whether or not she falls in love with Nick, or Nick is a true jackass. Then bundle it all up with teachers who may not be what they appear and may have their own agenda's. What's a girl have to do to have 5 minutes to herself so she can catch up on all of her homework and maybe some hot kissing? Oh, and can we talk about the age difference between Bay-Lee and Tyler? Ok, that's out of the way!

"You! You are the one who will destroy the world, the dark one who will open the doorway and unleash hell upon us all. It is your love for Van Helsing’s daughter that will be the catalyst of your fall. When you first meet her, you will have the best of intentions, but she will make a mistake that turns you into a monster. Worse than anything this universe has seen; you will destroy us all… unless the clever girl kills you. There are two possible futures I see. Let us pray she is strong enough to banish you from the earth. Yes, let us pray."

Tyler Beck (20) is a major superstar and a lead singer of Bad Rock. That is until he is caught on camera after allegedly killing 16 of his super fans and dies after being chased by the police. In reality, Tyler Beck is an alias of Nick Gallos and Nick doesn't kill humans. Nick is second to the man himself, Statler Van Helsing, in nearing legendary status. However, there's always a catch. Nick was told about a prophecy when he was 10 that claimed that one day, he would turn evil after he meets and falls in love with the daughter of Van Helsing.

Funny thing happened on the way to Van Helsing Academy. His parents tried to kill him! Yep! How's that for the rottenest parents of the year award winners? This led to Van Helsing taking him in and teaching him how to become a top-level hunter. But, now that Bay-Lee is at the school, he has his hands full with not only defending the border from the Order, but whoever is killing hunters at the school may be coming for him next. Oh, and let's not forget that he's really not supposed to fall in love with Bay-Lee or he'll turn super evil and destroy the world! Bwahahahahaha!

Ok, seriously though, I do have beefs with this story. Why would you put a 20 year old man with a girl 16 years old? Next, why would you allow your 16 year old girlfriend to drive your car which cost more than most people make in a year? Why wouldn't Van Helsing come out sooner and tell Bay-Lee the truth about her mother and what really happened or that or surprises I'll leave until the next installment.
