Everyone wants me dead, including the fae warrior sworn to protect me…he just hasn’t figured out who I really am.

Usually, the daughter of a fae king wouldn’t be working on a construction site in the mortal realm, but my father wants to kill me, so here I am—hiding among banished vampires and witches in Southern Oregon.

Despite my constant anxiety and utter lack of a love-life, I don’t have it too bad. Battery-operated boyfriends, cheap wine, and my friend Vessa get me through the hard days…until my father’s soldiers find me.

No amount of wine or AA batteries will make this problem go away.

Luckily, I have an escape plan. And when my father’s greatest nemesis, the Lord of Fate, comes after my ass, I have a plan for that too. But I didn’t plan for Bastion, a devastatingly sexy fae warrior—who bursts into my life claiming to be my sworn protector. Instant sparks.

Oh, and he has no idea who I really am.

Bastion doesn’t know how to drive a car or use a cellphone, and he’s never seen a naked woman before, but he knows where we can find a seer who holds the key to defeating my enemies. With my father and Fate closing in, I can either blow town and hide, or I can go on the offensive and trust this lethal, clueless stranger to take me to the seer.

Jaded Fae, by author Ava Sable, is the first volume in the Lords of the Arch Fae trilogy, a romantic Urban Fantasy series. Jaded Fae is intended for adult audiences. It contains sexual situations, strong language, coarse jokes, and violence. Urgon, ruler of the Time Court, and the last of the arch fae lords, conquered Vhale ages ago. He subjugated the rest of the fae courts and proclaimed himself King of all. Elemental fae, like vampires and witches, were banished to the mortal realm of Terra. He barred Vhale's elite high fae from coming to Terra, except his Time Court soldiers.

35-year old Suzanna Eldonia isn't supposed to exist. She's the daughter of the King of All, and the subject of a prophecy. The prophecy claims that when the Shade fails, the Lord of Time will seek the flaming sword, but the Lord of Fate will rise again and oppose him. Only one bloodline will remain. Before that great and terrible day, Fate will come to destroy the hidden arch daughter, for if time wields her vion, he will surely gain victory. Woe the the Princess. Both Fate and Time will hunt her to the ends of the worlds. Her only hope of salvation rests with the heart of a hero. Woe to Terra and Vhale. Should either Arch Lord wield the flaming sword, war will consume the worlds.

In this world, High Fae are allegedly descended from Angels who bred with elemental fae. The Shade is the barrier between Terra and Vhale created by Lord of Fate and Lady of Heaven which is supposed to dampen magic of those stuck in the mortal world. Suze lives in Oregon where she works construction. She has a best friend in Vessa, who is a vampire, and a decent boss in Jose, who watches her back. Mark is what's called a chronicler who was born on Vhale. She can't have sex with a live person for fear of killing her partner. After killing a centurion (Time Courts Elite Soldiers) who got too close to her, Suze waits for the next shoe to drop.

When an unknown visitor shows up at her home, Suze is forced to flee. Suz soon learns that the unknown visitor is named Bastion who claims he was told by a powerful Seer to protect Suz and take her to safety in a pocket realm. The reason for the protection? It is alleged that the Lord of Fate is hunting for the Lord of Times daughter because he needs her magic. Protecting Suz is one of four tasks that he's been assigned as well as finding a powerful object of power. A comedy of situations soon takes place since Bastion has no clue was to drive, or anything else that Suz and Terran's take for granted.

Without going any further, Suz and Bastion are chased all over Oregon and Northern California. There are some twists, betrayals, and an eye opening cliffhanger ending. We also hear about two other worlds as well. Shedim and Diamona. Apparently, I will have to read the sequel to find out what happens next.  One negative for me is the length of the book. I think it could have been cut down by 100 pages if you take out a bunch of unnecessary stuff.
