Victoria, a young, gifted scholar at a prestigious magical academy, finds herself hunting down secrets surrounding attacks on her fellow students.

Against the wishes of her sister and her better judgement, she travels into the old ruins of the academy, where terrors she could not anticipate await her.

Will she make it out to fight another day? Or will the demon make her his slave?

Magic Hunters: The Academy Trials, by author D'Artagnan Michaels, is the story about a woman named Victoria Albright. Vic attends a prestigious magical academy called Kharaz that is apparently having issues with Demons that the Assembly is either ignoring, or closing their eyes to the dangers that may exist. This corruption at the school could have devastating implications for all the students attending, including Vic.

After receiving a warning from her older sister Rika, who is a Demon Hunter who was kicked out of the Academy, Vic decides to do some exploring and investigation on her own without telling anyone what's she doing. Vic has dual magical abilities. Fire and arcane magic. She can also transport, or blink from one location to another, and levitate for small distances to avoid danger.

One of the main differences between Vic and her sister is that she's a scholar. But even a scholar understands that when you see 6 individuals sacrificing themselves to summon a demon, there is something really wrong happening at her academy, and regardless of any backup or not, it is up to her to do what she does best to stop the Demon from escaping. Even if it means losing her place at the Academy.

I really liked Vic's moxy and her courage. She stands toe to toe with a Demon and refuses to blink. The only issue I have is that at 73 pages long, this novella was way, way too short, and Vic deserves her own story. I received this novella through a free giveaway offered by the author.

Rika definitely has a reputation. She’s a tough girl with a bad attitude that can sling fire and disenchant like nobody's business. Which is why she is one of several hunters a mysterious organization is recruiting to take on a demon.

But he’s not just any demon. He's going to be a challenge. This demon brings devastation with it and has killed everyone that has gone up against him so far.

Rika and a new team of hunters have been recruited to take this demon down once and for all. If they fail, the organization has no choice but to destroy the demon and all life around it.

Can Rika and the other hunters, most of whom work solo, figure out how to work together to put an end to this deadly menace once and for all without losing their lives in the process?

Magic Hunters: The Operatives, by author D'Artagnan Michaels is the story of Victoria Albright's older sister Rika. Rika, as I mentioned above, is a Hunter. She has a combination of fire and disenchantment magical abilities. She also has a reputation for getting the job done. Rika is named as one of six candidates for a major hunt with a prize worth $450,000 if she is successful. What starts out with 16 hunters, is quickly widdled down to 6. Each of the six comes with a variety of different skill sets. There's a shaman, a shadow walker, a cleric, an alchemist, a necromancer, and Rika who calls herself a cabalist.

As with the first story, this is rather short and therefore wraps up quickly with an action packed series of events that once again has Rika and her group fighting accolates and demons and working for a mysterious group under the direction of a powerful sorceress. The one connection to both stories happens right at the end when Rika sends a warning to her sister about possible demon infestation at Kharaz. We will have more stories from either Rika or Victoria? I haven't a clue. There's literally no buy options for this book. It was part of a free giveaway by the author and her reps.
