A young private investigator finds out the price of keeping deadly secrets when a vicious killer sets his sights on her in this pulse-pounding thriller from the USA TODAY and New York Times bestselling author of the Tracers series.

Private investigator Kira Vance spends her days navigating the intricate labyrinth of Houston’s legal world, and she knows all of its shadowy players and dark secrets.
On a seemingly normal day, she’s delivering a report to her top client when suddenly everything goes sideways and the meeting ends in a bloodbath. Twenty-four hours later, the police have no suspects but one thing is clear: a killer has Kira in his sights.

Fiercely independent, Kira doesn’t expect—or want—help from anyone, least of all an unscrupulous lawyer and his elite security team. Instead, she launches her own investigation, hoping to uncover the answers that have eluded the police. But as Kira’s hunt for clues becomes more and more perilous, she realizes that she alone may hold the key to finding a vicious murderer. And she knows she must take help wherever she can find it if she wants to stay alive…

Written with Laura Griffin’s signature “gritty, imaginative, sexy” (Cindy Gerard, New York Times bestselling author) style, Her Deadly Secrets is an electrifying and scintillating novel that packs a powerful punch.

Her Deadly Secrets, by author Laura Griffin, is the second installment in the authors Wolfe Security series. Although this book is part of a series, this is a standalone story with new main characters which means that you don't have to have read the first book in this series to enjoy it. Kira Vance is a private investigator living in Houston. She and her boss Oliver Kovak are helping trial lawyer Brock Logan with a big case when things go horribly wrong.

While dropping off information for her boss, Ollie is murdered, and their client Brock is shot but lives. After giving a pretty damn good description of the shooter, Kira finds herself being protected by Jeremy Owen, a member of the Wolfe Security Bravo Team. Brock believes that the shooter may not be finished and that he and Kira might still be targeted before the trial of a doctor who may or may not have killed his wife. Kira isn't finished. She has no plans to allow Brock, Jeremy or his team to stop her from finding out who killed Ollie.

Kira is undeniably the main character in this book. She's driven to find out who killed her mentor, her friend, her boss, Ollie and why. She's not worried about Charlotte, or Jeremy who sticks to her like glue. With everything on her plate, Kira still manages to uncover a dangerous conspiracy. Kira is a good PI, but she still struggles to pay her bills. She has a really good intuition when it comes to calling people how she sees them. Her boss even believed she was a human lie detector which comes in handy when one is in a jury trial.

Let's not forget about Detective Charlotte Spears who ends up being lead detective in Ollie's murder, Brock's shooting, and other things that slowly unroll over the course of this mystery. When Charlotte and Kira finally get over the PI vs Cop mentality, they made a great team. All three characters definitely are worth reading about and the story alternates between the three characters. Jeremy, to me, is interesting in that he spent 4 tours in Afghanistan. He's spent the past 5 years as part of an Elite Security Team which travels all over the world protecting mostly rich and famous people. But, Kira is like nothing he's met before.

In closing, I thought this was a pretty good story overall. I enjoyed all the suspenseful aspects while the romance wasn't all in your face. Kira proved to be an excellent female lead. My only complaint is the title of the book has absolutely nothing to do with the overall story. Whose deadly secrets? Sure not Kira's, or Charlotte's!
