Quest completed. For the most part. Now, it's time for revenge.

Rebel, the human supernatural bounty hunter, is on the hunt for the ultimate prey.

Her brother's murderer.

She will have her revenge.

Or die trying, which remains a distinct possibility.

"I’m an agent of revenge, twisted in darkness, fueled by guilt and rage and anger. I’m losing myself to my quest, to my revenge, and I don’t know if I like who or what I’m becoming."

Hunter's Revenge, by author Nicole Zoltack, is the second installment in Rebel, Supernatural Bounty Hunter trilogy. Rebel is the only human willing to take of any and every paranormal creature she encounters. Picking up where Hunter's Quest left off, Rebel has completed one of her major quests. Now, it is time to do what she's promised she would do now for years. Find her brother and her sisters killers, and bring them to her own brand of justice.

“A genie wanted me to use my talents for good and not for money. He thought I could help to make the world have more light by diminishing its darkness, or something like that. Darius won’t let it go.”

At the end of the previous installment, a genie named Amal told Rebel who killed her brother and his wife as he was dying. She was also given a potion that, if she drank it, she would turn into a paranormal creature. Something that she doesn't see herself doing anytime soon. Plus, the witch who gave her the potion, isn't one you should trust with your children let alone trusted to come up with a potion that could have severe implications to becoming more than human. Rebel has been a bounty hunter for 5 years. She's done well for herself, but she's never found time for romance or the time to settle down.

In this story, Rebel goes on a plethora of other jobs before she has to address the monsters of the moment; Cain's descendants called Cainians who are extremely hard to kill. They are also highly intelligent, extremely cunning, super strong, and can't be killed by normal means. That means that Rebel finds herself going on a variety of quests in order to find the perfect weapon to stop them before they awaken Cain from his slumber which would have devastating consequences for the work.

Cain, if you know anything about the bible, has been labeled as the first true murderer for killing his brother. Cain killed Abel with a rock. Cain was subsequently marked and cursed. There is an old adage that says "Before you embark on a journey of revenge, dig two graves". Rebel's confrontation with Cain's descendants isn't easy. They know everything about Rebel including her real name. They know everything she's done since her parents died, and her brother and sister were murdered. They claim that they made Rebel into the woman she is today. Rebel is going to need a lot of help to win.

Thankfully, over the past several months, Rebel has gone from having no friends, to having a group who she can count on to help her when things get sticky. Darius Devonshire is an arcane witch and supernatural assassin who Rebel was supposed to kill for another witch but didn't. Rebel won't openly admit it, but she's fallen and can't get up when it comes to Darius. Vinca is a fairy she helped find love or rather pushed her boyfriend into finally popping they question. Mirella, who works for Hex-U, is one of the most powerful witches in the world. She has been trying to help Rebel stay focused and she's also been a good friend to have around.

There is a quasi-cliffhanger ending to this story which everyone will see coming. There's no spoilers folks, it is what it is because that's the way the author has chosen to proceed to her finale. I think the authors explanation as to what really happened to Rebel's family and why is righteous and makes sense. It makes sense after you've met her in the first installment.
