Chasing dangerous storms is in Marley Pascal’s blood. For her, it’s an obsession—a need to confront the powerful, destructive forces that killed her parents.

But the storm she and her brother track down seems to violate the very laws of nature, with lightning that strikes as if from another world. In its crater, Marley finds a small purple crystal with a terrifying energy that hits her like a bolt to the chest when she picks it up.

Suddenly, it’s like the electricity pulses through her blood, a charge she can’t control. Which is exactly when he comes looking for her—the ridiculously hot boy whose eyes spark and crackle with the same force that now resides in her body. And he smells like summer rain…

But what’s inside Marley isn’t meant for her—or for any human. It belongs to him. To his kind.

As long as this force stays in her body, she’s a living target. A weapon meant to protect…or destroy.

Because now she is the storm.

Lindsey Duga's Storm Chaser is a story about storms, aliens, romance, and magic. For the past 5 years, Marley Pascal, who resides in Kansas aka Tornado Alley, has spent a whole lot of time learning about the weather and how storms like tornadoes develop and cause so much damage. Storms that 5 years ago, took the lives of her parents while somehow managing to leave her, and her brother Travis, behind to pick up the pieces.

On her first day as a storm chaser, Marley, along with Travis, Gerry, and Patrick, discover a super cell like the one that killed her parents, heading towards Lawrence, Kansas. The storm will eventually leave behind a large crater where Marley finds what looks to be a purple crystal. When she picks it up, she gets an electrical charge, and passes out. What's even stranger is that the purple gemstone is missing and she has what looks like a lightning strike mark on her back. Soon she will learn that humans are not alone on Earth.

There is an alien presence that tends to cause violent storms that have destroyed towns, and other properties. Enter Brae an alien from the planet Enos which was destroyed thanks to four clans (Air, Lightning, Ice, and Rain) not being able to put differences aside for the sake of the planet. 5 years ago, Brae and his enil clan (lightning) arrived on Earth, but his clan has been fighting an ongoing battle with a rival clan lead by Cassen who seems to be getting stronger every time he and Brae encounter each other.

To make matters worse, Brae soon learns that Marley has his oculus that he lost in a fight against Cassen. Marley somehow managed to pick up Brae's oculus that holds his powers, and nobody understands why, or how that happened, or how to give the power back to Brae. While the oculus enhances Brae's powers, what will it end up doing to Marley if they can't figure out a way to give it back? And, to top it off, Cassen isn't stupid. This puts Marley directly in the line of fire, but it also places her brother and his storm chasing team in harms way as well.

Unfortunately, this book is not a standalone, and that means that it ends on a cliffhanger ending. The story alternates between Brae and Marley and that means you get more of a cast to be introduced with after you meet Brae's clan as well as others. Truth be told, I really hate when the synopsis posted doesn't tell you whether or not this is a standalone, or part of a series. Neither does the authors web page. Then you read the book to the ending and shocking, it's not a standalone! Ergo, that is why I have rated my review so low. Also, this book releases 10/31/2022, NOT 10/31/23.
