#Review - Aliens Like Us by Gini Koch #SyFy #Fantasy

Series:
 Katherine "Kitty" Katt # 17
Format:
541 pages, Kindle Edition
Release Date: April 7, 2026
Publisher: Ginger Blue Publishing
Source: Amazon
Genre: SyFy, Fantasy

It’s not easy being a Woman of the Multiverse, but Kitty’s definitely the Megalomaniac Girl for the job.

After a mad dash around the galaxy, saving the day in various important ways and expanding the Annocusal Empire left and right, all Kitty & Company want to do is go home. But that’s not in the particular hand they’ve been dealt. On their way to Alpha Four to make Emperor Alexander feel like he hasn’t been left out, Kitty and eleven others are tossed into a different universe at the snap of some very powerful fingers.

They’re not sent to just any universe, either. They’re in the Steampunk Universe, and things are very different there – and not just due to the technological divergence between Kitty’s universe and this one. Starting with them being surrounded by ships that are redefining the term “unfriendly” – because this universe has been embroiled in galactic war for centuries.

Friends are enemies, enemies are friends, people alive in one universe are dead in this one, and vice versa is old news for Kitty, but new news for everyone else with her. The Victorian Era still reigns supreme here, meaning everyone’s attitudes are a lot less free and easy than Kitty’s used to.

But the biggest discovery is the worst one – instead of being Kitty’s husband and a total hero, the Jeff Martini in this universe is an evil murderer who’s aligned his entire empire with the Z’porrah, and that means the good guys are losing...

Aliens Like Us is the 17th installment in author Gini Koch's Katherine "Kitty" Katt series. The book is a long-awaited, high-energy return to the series that delivers the signature mix of snarky action, multiverse chaos, ensemble antics, and steamy-ish sci-fi romance fans expect—while shifting into a full steampunk alternate universe. The story picks up after the cliffhanger of Aliens Abroad (2018). The gap was substantial—roughly eight years—so the book’s arrival felt like a major event for dedicated readers.

Kitty Katt-Martini and a core group of eleven others are en route after expansive galactic adventures when they are abruptly tossed into a different universe—the Steampunk Universe. Technology diverges sharply (steam, mechanics, and Victorian-era sensibilities dominate instead of the more familiar tech of their home reality), a centuries-long galactic war rages, alliances are inverted, and people who are alive (or dead) in one universe often occupy the opposite status in this one.

The most jarring discovery involves an alternate Jeff Martini who is an evil murderer aligned with the Z’porrah, putting the “good guys” in a losing position. Friends and enemies swap roles, attitudes are more constrained by the prevailing cultural norms, and Kitty must navigate this hostile environment with limited resources while the fate of multiple realities hangs in the balance. The book functions as the first half of a larger arc (followed by Aliens Like Them), ending on a “to be continued” note rather than a fully self-contained resolution.

Kitty’s rapid-fire, pop-culture-infused narration, problem-solving style, and “Megalomaniac Girl” energy drive the story. The large supporting cast (family, friends, aliens, hybrids, and more) gets plenty of moments, including interactions involving the younger generation and the ever-present adorable side elements (Poofs and similar). Multiverse versions create fun “what if” tension without completely abandoning established dynamics.

The steampunk overlay—Victorian social attitudes colliding with Kitty’s modern/alien-enhanced sensibilities, plus ongoing interstellar war—gives fresh texture to the usual conspiracies, superpowers, politics, and high-stakes fights. Koch continues her talent for packing in intrigue, shifting allegiances, and chaotic set pieces while keeping the tone predominantly fun and propulsive. It is very much a series book.

New readers will be lost; the enormous cast, ongoing plot threads, and accumulated lore make starting at book 1 (Touched by an Alien) essentially mandatory. Aliens Like Us succeeds as a fan-pleasing continuation that leans hard into multiverse exploration and a distinctive steampunk aesthetic while preserving the fast, funny, relationship-driven core that made the Alien/Katherine “Kitty” Katt series popular.

It is not the tightest or most self-contained entry, and the long wait plus incomplete arc will test patience for some, but for readers who love Kitty’s chaotic competence, the sprawling found family, and ever-escalating cosmic weirdness, it delivers the goods and leaves them eager for December 2026’s follow-up Aliens Like Them. If you’ve followed Kitty this far, this is the reunion most were hoping for—messy, energetic, and very much in the spirit of the books that came before. The good guys (and the snark) are still fighting; the universe just got a lot more complicated.

*Note* There are actually two covers to this book. One was originally planned for release under DAW; the other is being released by Ginger Blue Publishing. I honestly like the original, but have included both to support the author.

Wednesday #Review - Aliens Abroad by Gini Koch #Science #Fiction

Series: Katherine "Kitty" Katt # 16
Format: Paperback, 656 pages
Release Date: February 6, 2018
Publisher: DAW
Source: Publisher
Genre: Science Fiction / Action & Adventure

With human populations growing and alien populations adding in, the Earth is becoming too overcrowded to sustain itself, and the solar system is already filling up with aliens. With the technology from the Alpha Centauri and Vatasusan systems having been given to Earth, it’s time to explore new planets and see if any uninhabiteds can be claimed. The President and First Lady, aka Jeff and Kitty Katt-Martini, aren’t supposed to be on this mission, but what looks like a snafu during a political photo op on the newly christened Distant Voyager spaceship turns out to be a call for help from a planet that might be Earth’s salvation…or its destruction. Now Kitty & company must figure out how to safely as well as boldly go where no one has gone before and this time, the stakes are higher than anyone could have imagined.

Aliens Abroad is the sixteenth novel in Gini Koch’s rollicking Alien science fiction action series featuring Katherine "Kitty" Katt-Martini as the heroine who kicks butts, takes names, and rocks out to various cuts of music as she is doing so. As the story opens, Kitty is contacted by an unknown alien who asks for her help. This is the first time the author has introduced us to the so called Dreamscape, which no, has nothing to do with the movie from 1984.

Shortly thereafter, on the day of the launch of the new starship called Distant Voyager, Kitty, her family, a slew of random others, including most of Jeff's cabinet, are sent on a mission of utmost importance. Apparently, the fate of the galaxy is in jeopardy, and Kitty, as the Warrior Queen, is once again called to stand up and protect others as she has done this entire series. Kitty brings her usual stock of sarcasm and snark to the story along with an intelligence that is often overlooked by those she has spent almost decade with fighting aliens and saving the universe.

This story is one with three different missions that Kitty and her crew must solve before moving on to the next stop. At each stop they are sent on, billions will die unless they figure out a way to stop the impending galactic apocalypse from happening. This is brilliantly thought out story, which impresses me since this is the 16th installment in the series and things still haven't gotten stale for me. In this story, a different super-consciousness guides the crew of the Distant Voyager to places that really need Kitty's unique ways of solving difficult issues.

I love the relationships that Kitty has with each of these characters, especially Lilith. They all adore Kitty because Kitty has shown that she can change the minds of even the most cynical person to her side. I am curious as one who has read this series from the beginning. I don't honestly remember if the author has ever left such a stunning ending to her story before. I will definitely have to go back and re-read my reviews to see if this has happened. This stunning ending really leaves me eager to pick up the next book in the series.

One of the more interesting selling points I read recently about this series said, "this breakneck series includes plenty of sex and last-ditch efforts to save the world—imagine Men in Black and True Lies having a girls’ night out in Area 51."

Friday #Review - Alexander Outland: Space Pirate by G.J. Koch #Science Fiction @GiniKoch

Series: TBD
Format: E-Galley, 368 pages
Release Date: June 6, 2017
Publisher: Night Shade Books
Source: Edelweiss
Genre: Science Fiction

Captain Alexander Outland of the Sixty-Nine (short for Space Vessel 369, of course) is the best pilot in the galaxy. He’s also a pirate, a smuggler, and loved and loathed by women in umpteen solar systems. His crew of strays and misfits includes an engineer of dubious sanity, a deposed planetary governor, an annoyingly unflappable Sexbot copilot, and a slinky weapons chief who stubbornly refuses to give the captain a tumble.

Outland just wants to make a decent living skirting the law, but after an invisible space armada starts cutting into his business, he finds himself in hot water with the military, the mob, mad bombers, and an extended family of would-be conquerors. And that’s not counting an occasionally telepathic spy.

Like any sensible scoundrel, he hates heroics. They’re risky and they don’t pay well. But to keep his ship and crew in one piece, and make time with a certain hard-to-get weapons chief, he might just have to make an exception—and save the galaxy in spite of himself!

Gini Koch, author of the Katherine "Kitty" Katt series, releases a new series that begins with Alexander Outland: Space Pirate. Captain Alexander Napoleon Outland is this series Malcolm Reynolds (Firefly). He is the captain of a ship called Sixty Nine. Yes, folks, this is actually the name of the ship. The rest of the crew includes Randolph (Chief Engineer), Slinkie (Weapons Officer), dethroned Governor Murgat, and Audrey (Fembot, Co-Pilot) built by Randolph.

Captain Outland is one of the best pilots in the galaxy, a pirate, a scoundrel, a man who loves the ladies, and usually leaves them behind wanting to strangle him. After one such encounter, Outland and his crew find themselves facing an invisible armada that has been creating problems for the Gamma Quadrant. After landing on the Planet of Herion, Outland and his crew face all sorts of challenges.

The first challenge is that he is the only pilot able to land his ship on the Planet in awhile. Which makes him a target for the good, and the bad. As usual, Koch witticism, and snarky banter is clear right from the beginning. Outland has crazy feelings for Slinkie, but she won't give him the time of the day, let alone a rumble in the sheets. This is a quick moving, action packed story that had me laughing through many scenes. I mentioned that Outland is a lot like Malcolm from Firefly, but I think there are also parts of Spaceballs involved
in the story as well.

Throw in a pirate armada with a ridiculous name, and a not soon to be forgettable through the sewer system of Herion, and you are sure to have one of the best experiences reading a book in a very long time. The author states that this is the first installment in the series. I do see where this story was originally released in 2012. I do hope a sequel is forthcoming soon!

Monday #Review - Alien Education by Gini Koch #Science Fiction @GiniKoch @dawbooks

Series: Katherine "Kitty" Katt # 15
Format: Paperback, 544 pages
Release Date: May 2, 2017
Publisher: DAW
Source: Publisher
Genre: Science Fiction \ Action & Adventure

The fifteenth novel of Gini Koch’s rollicking sci-fi Alien series.

Due to Earth and its solar system becoming a favorite location for disaffected aliens of all kinds, problems with integration of all Earth-bound alien children into schools becomes a major issue that ends up becoming First Lady Kitty Katt-Martini’s new official cause—and one that’s taking up more of her time than is good for anyone. At the same time, moving the school-aged children out of the American Centaurion Embassy Daycare and into regular schools highlights some students and parents who seem suspect to Occasional Room Mom Kitty and Career Day Jeff. As things become the 1960s all over again, all over Earth, the discovery of a plot to mind control the next generation surfaces, and a race against time for the hearts and especially the minds of all Earth’s children begins…including the mind of Jamie Martini.

Series Overview: Katherine “Kitty” Katt-Martini joins forces with gorgeous aliens from Alpha Centauri to protect the Earth, kick evil alien butt, and save the day with hairspray and rock and roll—not necessarily in that order.

Alien Education is the (15th) installment in author Gini Koch's Katherine "Kitty" Katt series. After the tumultuous events of Operation Immigration, aka Alien Nation, where a massive alien arrival on Earth was handled with Kitty's usual flare, twisted brilliance, and antics, President Jeff Martini, First Lady Kitty Katt-Martini, and the rest of the Scooby Gang are gearing up for what will be an eventful series of events.  The first day of school for Jamie-Katt and the rest of the kids

From Kitty's humorous appearance on Good Day USA, to helping Earth join the Galactic Council & becoming Earth's representative to the rest of the known galaxy, to having to deal with the fact that people are actually turning themselves into cyborgs as a way of living forever. Kitty even has her own school bully in the PTA who puts Kitty in her sights right from the onset, and doesn't let up no matter how hard Kitty tries to use her sarcasm and humor to break the ice. Thankfully, Kitty has Team Tough Guys (Buchanan, Siler, Wreck) and Lizzie as backups.

This is a story that once again shows Kitty's depth as a character. As a parent of two amazing children, as a wife & lover to Jeff, and as First Lady who kicks ass, takes names, and doesn't let alone mess what is hers. Kitty knows no limits when it comes to keeping her cubs and the people she loves safe from the True Believers, Death Dealers, The Tinkerer, and Fembots who have been created to steal Jamie from Kitty, Kill Kitty's mother, and interrupt Kitty's streak of very public wins that has set back Team Villains back to the beginning, and asking for a truce.

Koch is a masterful storyteller who uses sarcasm, humor, action, romance, and plenty of twists to keep readers happy and satisfied. After 15 books, the cast of characters once again grows. Along with those who have chosen to become Kitty's allies rather than enemies, are a group of newly arrived aliens who help her out in a particularly tough spot. Love me some turtles! You would think that Koch would find coming up with fresh and entertaining storylines hard. But, that isn't the case with Gini Koch and her Kitty Katt series. I am seriously impressed with her world building, her use of music that I have, and haven't heard before, and characters who are both lovable, relatable, and fun to read about. The good news for readers is that Koch plans on writing 5 more books! Yippee!

PS - The scene on the cover of the book actually happens during a hockey game. I love these covers! Each and every one of them has been key moments in the story itself.

#Tuesday Review - Alien Nation by Gini Koch #Science Fiction #Fantasy @GiniKoch @dawbooks

Series: Katherine "Kitty" Katt # 14
Format: Paperback, 560 pages
Release Date: December 6, 2016
Publisher: DAW
Source: Publisher
Genre: Science Fiction, Action/Adventure

It’s a typical day of bureaucracy and stress for President and First Lady Jeff and Kitty Katt-Martini, made more stressful when alien spacecraft are spotted making a beeline for Earth, none of them from the Alpha Centauri system. Then a cryptic request from an old adversary pulls Kitty out of the White House and into an explosion—and an even more explosive situation. Not only is the Mastermind back in the game, influencing the Club 51 True Believers to find and destroy all Centaurion bases, but he’s also found a dangerous benefactor and created some frightening new cloning abilities.

And, just to make things a little more challenging, those alien spacecraft are coming to ask Kitty for protection, and asylum on Earth. Police stations being blown up and war helicopters in play aren’t enough to keep Kitty down, especially when she’s got some new alien friends helping out. But what these aliens share will rock the world—the other aliens on their way to Earth are fleeing an enemy so terrifying that even a Z’porrah ship is trying to get to Earth for safety and protection. And if Earth isn’t able to stop this threat, there may not be anything left of humanity. Now Kitty and Company have to figure out where the Mastermind is and stop him, before any new aliens land. And then they have to save the world from a deadly invasion. Or, as Kitty calls it, Thursday.

Alien Nation, by author Gini Koch, is the 14th installment in the Katherine "Kitty" Katt science fiction series that has been at the top of my list for some time now. Alien Nation picks up 6 weeks after the ending of Camp Alien. This book has everything you can expect from Gini Koch. It has new aliens who have fled their home worlds and are apparently seeking asylum from the most interesting and well known person in several galaxies; Kitty.

It has more of Algar, who for readers who haven't read this series, is sort of Kitty's guiding voice when things are at their worst. You can call him the all knowing who knows things, but gets Kitty to guess until she finally gets what he can't tell her. It has the usual action, adventure, banter, sarcasm, humor, romance, and secondary characters who we've come to love like they were apart of our own families.

For the past 6 years, Kitty has had encounters with all sorts of villains, and some of them, she's made friends and allies out of. That really never gets old knowing that Kitty has a tendency of pulling a rabbit from her mysterious purse while everyone else looks at her like she's grown another head. Kitty's nemeses list currently includes the Crazy Eights, Stephanie, the Mastermind, Leventhal Reid, and LaRue who have tried numerous times to eliminate Kitty from getting in the way of their world domination.

Kitty has been one of my favorites for awhile now. She's a kickass heroine who has saved the earth three times. She's been part of every single alliance that Earth has made with Alpha Four, and other alien races who have called Kitty friend, and ally. She's repaired broken alliances, removed one tyrannical leader and replaced him with one more inclined to be friendly towards Earth. She's responsible for stopping a multi-planet Civil War that could have spread to Earth. Now, she has to face an Alien invasion that hasn't been seen in anyone's lifetime. She's even moved the Earth into joining an even larger community thanks to her relationship with the Planetary Council.

Kitty may not be the sharpest mind in the group like Charles, but her quick actions, her strange ideas, and her strength as a leading character are unmatched. As for her position as First Lady (FLOTUS), Kitty weaves her own path, and it is a path that sometimes gives her the right to "Put up the Paw" to shut people down so that she can fix things that others have broken. She's still not happy that she was betrayed by her friends, but she is adult enough to forgive and move on. Especially when she has her own team who would follow her into hell and back without blinking.

Alien Nation is a fantastic, thrill a minute ride that finishes a one huge story arc to its action packed conclusion, and opens Kitty up for an even more interesting adventure in the next installments. If you haven't noticed, I am joyously giddy with pleasure at seeing my blog up in the spotlight on the cover. It is a true honor to be out among the big names in blogging, and I thank Gini, and DAW for that honor.

#Friday Review - Camp Alien by Gini Koch (Science Fiction, Romance)

Series: Katherine "Kitty" Katt # 13
Format: Paperback, 588 pages
Release Date: May 3, 2016
Publisher: DAW
Source: Publisher
Genre: Science Fiction

The President and First Lady, aka Jeff and Kitty Katt-Martini, don’t get any downtime once the Mastermind has been revealed to the world. Not only do they have myriad high-level government positions to fill, but the scrutiny and pressure on this Administration has gone into overdrive.

The sudden reappearance of a long-forgotten adversary turns out to be the tip of the iceberg. New robots and androids attacking, old enemies making new alliances, and new aliens with interesting abilities almost overshadow the fact that the U.S. still has to host a peace summit at Camp David between Israel and Iraq. It’s clear that while the Mastermind may be down, there are plenty of others ready to take his place—and all that stands between them and success are Kitty and Company.

Kidnappings, rescues, creepy hideouts, a hidden black site, and a domestic dispute that could end Jeff and Kitty’s marriage are nothing compared to finding not one but two hidden labs where dangerous and deadly things are brewing.

But when the President and his entourage finally get to the peace talks, things are no better. Mossad rightly suspects something’s wrong with both their Prime Minister and the President of Iraq. A hidden in-control superbeing, an android replacement, and an army of Fem-Bots turn the peace talks into a Battle Royale that the team might not actually survive. And if they don’t make it, Earth won’t make it, either.

But no pressure.

Camp Alien, by author Gini Koch, is the Thirteenth installment in the Katherine "Kitty" Katt Science Fiction/Romance series. Camp Alien picks up several weeks after the ending of Alien in Chief or Operation Epidemic if you've been keeping track of all of Kitty's escapades and exploits. Operation Epidemic left a whole lot of people dead, and the US government in disarray. Not only did everything happen when the Planetary Council was visiting, but it has made Jeff Martini President, and Kitty First Lady. If you are chuckling over the fact that Kitty is now FLOTUS, got for it. I was too.

It's almost too good to be true. But, then again, this is the kind of FLOTUS I can get behind and fully support. After all, Kitty started out as a marketing manager in Arizona who knew nothing about alien monsters, to a superbug exterminator. She later went on to become Commander of the Airborne division of the American Centaurion, Ambassador of the American Centaurions in DC, and Public Enemy Number One to all of the Villains of Doom. She's confused numerous people, including Jeff, over the way she solves the unsolvable. She's also made enemies into friends, and friends into people who want to stand in the way of a bullet meant for her.

Kitty is the kind of character who refuses to sit still and let others handle things. Since she has been enhanced after the birth of her daughter Jamie, she truly believes that sitting still as ambassador, or being the FLOTUS, is a waste of her time and energy. She wants to hunt down the Mastermind, and all of the rest of the enemies she has made since joining the Alpha Centaurions. Which is why when the men in her life, the men who should know better, make a terrible mistake, Kitty has every right to disappear with those who have her back throughout this book.

Kitty has had her hands full over the past Twelve installments. If you think Kitty will get any sort of rest and relaxation in THIS novel, you haven't read this series, and don't know Gini Koch all that well. So, without spoilers, Kitty and her allies have exposed the mastermind on national and international TV. Yet, exposing him has had the opposite affect. Instead of agents of evil standing down, they pull some tricky maneuvers that leaves Kitty kidnapped, a long sought enemy makes their move, robots and androids and super-beings all have their own agendas, and on top of all of the stuff that is happening in Kitty's new Home, She and Jeff are supposed to deal with a peace summit at Camp David between Israel and Iraq.

Easy Peasy, just another day at the office for Kitty! Sorry, but I do have one itsy bitsy little complaint to get off my chest. While I adore Lizzie, and love the fact that she has become one of Kitty's sidekicks against the agents of evil, she uses a certain word, you know the one, way, way, way TOO MUCH! I have come to embrace Selene as well. She knows Kitty all too well now, and doesn't do stupid things in trying to stop her from protecting those she loves.

There are some fantasy novels that I have read over years that have had too many characters. Thankfully, this is not the case in Kitty's series. In fact, I dare say that if any of the current crop of characters ends up getting dead, including Selene, Lizzie, Siler, or Richard, it will change Kitty in ways that I just can't fathom right now. All four that I have mentioned are solidly behind Kitty, and could be considered her partners in crime along with her flyboys.

I was given an early copy of this book in its raw form, and then a finished copy by the publisher. I really got whole lot of thrill seeing one of my blurbs in the beginning of this book. I have been trying to push this series onto almost everyone I know. Even 13 books in, I refuse to accept that this series can't get any better than it already is. I adore Kitty to the max. I love her sarcasm, her relationship with some very powerful beings, and the fact that she can fight evil while being a good mother to her kids.

In closing, I think that one day the author needs to put together a soundtrack for her books. She as Kitty, has a whole lot of songs at her fingers tips. Some I've heard before and some not so much.

#Tuesday Review - Alien in Chief by Gini Koch (Science Fiction)

Series: Katherine "Kitty" Katt # 12
Format: Paperback, 540 pages
Release Date: December 1, 2015
Publisher: DAW
Source: Publisher
Genre: Science Fiction

The Mastermind has upped his game . . .

As Kitty can tell you, it's not easy being the wife of the vice president - especially not when he's an alien from the Alpha Centauri system. And being a parent of preternaturally talented children, don't even go there. But she and her A-C husband, Jeff, have learned how to roll with whatever life and the bad guys throw at them - they think.

Kitty & Company have been savoring a few months of quiet since they got back from Beta Eight. But suddenly their peace is shattered by the arrival of a mysterious female assassin - who might be Jeff's missing niece, Stephanie. And that's just the beginning of the fun.

When the Alpha Centauri Planetary Council requests a visit with the president and vice president, things look politically dicey. When the most dangerous prisoners in the most secure supermax prison escape with ease, things look bad. But when the Mastermind releases a virus that kills people in a week, things go to Defcon Worse fast.

Now it's up to Kitty to save everyone important in the U.S. government - including her mother, her husband, and herself - before the virus spreads through the rest of the country, and then the world. Plus she's facing invisible attackers, crazed assassins, a teenager in hiding, the most dangerous train ride ever, the disappearance of her beloved flyboys, and a mysterious alien who could be an enemy or the ally she needs.

and this time, the Mastermind's made it very personal. Either he's going down . . . or Kitty is.

Alien in Chief is the Twelfth installment in Gini Koch's Katherine "Kitty" Katt series. This is the episode I have been waiting patiently for since the unmasking of the Mastermind in the previous installment called Alien Separation. For Kitty and her allies, it is hard to keep a secret knowing that your nemesis is close to your inner circle. What's worse is that the mastermind is as devious and nasty as he is brilliant to the point where he is always one step ahead of Kitty and her allies.

In the six years since Kitty was exposed to the reality that aliens from the Alpha Centauri system live on this planet, she has become an alien busting kick ass heroine with plenty of snark and the ability to take on anything that comes her way while listening to a plethora of songs. Kitty is so underrated that even her allies sometimes are confused by the things she comes up with to thwart the members of the league of villains.

Alien in Chief is a fun ride that pushes the series into the next chapter. For readers who may be hesitant about reading this series, let me calm your fears. If you are a reader looking for plenty of action, you have it. If you are looking for sexy romance, you have it. If you are looking for a variety of villains, unexpected guests from the Planetary Council, a virus that leaves the government in disarray, a fight scene that takes place on a train, invisible enemies, covers that are so awesome that they bring out the best scene of the book, and a heroine who refuses to leave anyone behind, you have it. Need I say more?

I love that this book actually takes place a few months after Alien Separation. To me, it's more realistic to give the characters a bit of down time before jumping back into the fire. I love that Koch adds yet another fun character in Elizabeth "Lizzie" Jackson who has her hands full with her own troubles. I'm a bit nervous about the friends and colleagues that went missing or were killed over the course of the story. These characters are/were too important to be disregarded or ignored. I am a bit curious as to how the story will continue from here now that the truth is out in the world and Jeff and Kitty have moved into a new "house."

Guess we shall see in May when Camp Alien releases.

**I received this book for free from (Publisher) in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.**

*Book Review* Alien Separation by Gini Koch (Science Fiction)

Series: Katherine "Kitty" Katt # 11
Published by Penguin/DAW
Released: May 5, 2015
Format: Paperback, 524 pages
Source: Publisher
Genre: Science Fiction

Life's never easy . . .

The Mastermind has finally been identified, but before Jeff and Kitty Katt-Martini can take him down, they, their daughter Jamie, Charles Reynolds, Paul Gower, Christopher White, and several others are zapped out of their solar system and into another.

Landing in scattered groups on various areas of Beta Eight in the Alpha Centauri system means getting the team back together will be a major issue. But it's only one of the challenges they'll face. Kitty and Company have to forge alliances with the wide variety of sentient natives on the planet while plotting to create a civil war and overthrow the king - who just may be a clone of one of their bitterest enemies, Ronaldo Al Dejahl.

Of course, to do this, they have to overcome an assortment of dangerous obstacles, protect a group of refugees, take mind reading lessons, and seek out unexpected new allies as they journey to the Centerpoint of the world.

And once they reach the All Seeing Mountain, new issues and surprises await. Because there's more than a small war going on - they're in the midst of the Alpha Centauri Civil War!

Alien Separation is the Eleventh installment in the Katherine "Kitty" Katt series. The story picks up right where the previous installment, Universal Alien, left off. After being sent to another universe and returning after kicking ass and taking names, again, all Kitty wants to do is have a little sexy time with her husband Jeff Martini, and some mommy time with daughter Jamie, the hybrid alien baby who has abilities nobody has seen before.

The Mastermind has been identified after Kitty's travel to a multi-verse where there are different versions of her, and Jamie. But, what happens when Kitty has to reveal the identity of the Mastermind to her best friend Charlies Reynolds who has been the target of many of THIS persons actions? Will he lose his mind and go on a rampage? Or, will he remain calm, cool, and collective until all the pieces of the puzzle are in front of him?

In epic Gini Koch fashion, Kitty, Jeff, Jamie, Charles and 18 others who are part of Team Kitty, are spirited away to Beta Eight in the Alpha Centauri system not long after Kitty returns. So much for a break! Kitty guesses pretty quickly who beamed the group to this planet, but not why since the Mastermind was at the top of Team Kitty's agenda. The team is spread out across the planet, and along the way, Kitty ends up making new friends, and becoming the Namer of All Things.

This is what Koch is really good at and why I continue to rave about this series and encourage others to read it. Koch creates unusual worlds, and strange and unusual new beings. She puts Kitty in her element which is to gather everyone around her together, gain new allies, and fight like her very life depends on it. 9 times out of 10, it really does. This time around, a familiar adversary (the Z'porrah) appears and it is up to Kitty and her collection of eclectic beings from across the universe to do all they can to stop a Civil War from tearing apart the Alpha Centauri system and in turn, Earth.

I still have some minor questions about the real identity of the Mastermind. I'm wondering if Ms Gini is playing a game of shells with us. You know, giving us a three choices, and asking us which shell is the ball under? I still say it "might" be someone else who will shock us when his/her identity is revealed in all its glory. Hopefully not though. I like the idea that Kitty has a solid group of loyal people who even though they roll their eyes at her Kitty-ism, they stand beside her knowing that she will be the one who comes up with ways to defeat their enemies. And, Kitty is HARDLY a cowering flower. She takes center stage, and that's where she belongs.

I think you know by know, that I am a huge fan of Gini Koch, and this series. I adore the world building. I love the sarcasm, banter, romance, mystery, action, and a slew of superhero like characters that stand up against evil where ever they go. Koch really did throw me for a loop. I was expecting the next step in the war against the Mastermind and THIS persons's allies. Instead, Koch pushes Kitty and her team into defending a planet against hostile forces, and saving the universe. Then twists and turns the story into revealing even more surprises waiting for Team Kitty.

What, I ask respectfully, was with that ending? Not that I am actually complaining. I am just surprised that Koch has decided to go in that direction. We haven't discovered all there is to know about Jamie's abilities, now we get another element to add to the equation. Team Kitty is at war, but now Koch is going to add yet another surprise to the series. Of course the sneak peak at the end of the book has whet my desire to find out what happens next. Thankfully, Alien in Chief (Katherine "Kitty" Katt #12), releases this December so the wait isn't that long at all!
